The Central England/Cotswolds region
The Cotswolds are in the heart of England and are considered by some to be one of the most beautiful areas of England. Perfect for walking holidays and for those who want to surround themselves in beautiful countryside and English history.
The Cotswolds are steeped in English history. All within driving distance of the cottage are Sudeley Castle (the home of one of Henry VIII's six wives, Katherine Parr), Batsford, the beautiful home of the 6 famous Mitford sisters in the 1920's which also has the amazing 55 acres' Batsford Arboretum which has one of the finest collection of flora and fauna from across the world and of course Stratford upon Avon the home of Shakespeare.
There are many historic castles, houses and beautiful gardens to visit as well as simply wandering around the nearby old villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton, Upper Slaughter, Lower Slaughter and Broadway and enjoying a traditional English pub lunch with a refreshing locally brewed beer or enjoying the English tradition of afternoon tea and cake.
Moreton in Marsh is a charming Cotswolds' market town, with a weekly market, antiques' fairs in the local town hall and enjoys a full range of shops including a very good supermarket with plenty of parking, a high quality butcher's, baker's, pubs, hotels, many antiques' shops and teashops.
Moreton in Marsh has a railway station which goes into London Paddington 1:40 mins and also has reliable local bus services to nearby villages and towns such as Stow-on- the-Wold, Broadway, Bourton on the Water, Cheltenham and Stratford upon Avon.
