"Badly needs updating and the smell on the landing sorted out."
We were disappointed at the condition of the apartment. The smell on the landing was terrible. It was reasonably cheap so we didn't expect a 5 star hotel but it could have been cleaner. The m… More
this man had a terrible bad back. he was recovering from a slipped disc. said they should have cancelled travelling really. His wife insisted on carrying his bag upstairs. ANY bed would have been uncomfortable or chair or anywhere really. dont know how he travelled half way round the world with his back as bad as that. i cleaned the stairs and hallway, put air freshener in the hallway and halfway upstairs. had to take them out because his wife was also allergic to chemicals.said there was a chemical smell on stairs. i dont know how they manage on a plane, they are full of chemicals. the clock on the wall in the kitchen had stopped so he lifted it off, dropped it and broke it. This apartment has clean bedding. towels. toiletries. instant hot water. (new boiler) flat screen tv. tea. coffee. milk. cereals. sea view. space. at a very inexpensive price. may be a bit dated but it is over 100 yrs old. This is "The Galleon" not the QE2.

This guest had a great holiday she had a FREE weekend and txt me to say "thanks very much we have settled in nicely and feel very at home." i have kept the txt. If she had gone along the channels she would have found lots of channels available. I drove to Kendal to get a dvd player and round my friends and got about 50 dvds which she txt and said her children were very happy with ive kept that txt too. she said she couldnt find the baking trays which were in the bottom drawer in the kitchen, and also on checking the dvd player she only had to switch the "ON" switch and it would have worked. Her daughter didnt hurt herself as on Sunday morning they were running around and dancing and thumping on the floor they were having a ball. Next thing she said there were bugs in the window what a load of rubbish a spider had crawled on the window sill. She decided to go home. came down the stairs slammed the front door and left most of her stuff in the flat. very erratic behaviour and v scary. Demanded her money back and said she rang holiday lettings and said they told her to tell me to cancel the booking and she could have her money back. i rang them and they hadnt said that at all. They wouldnt refund as she had started the holiday and said it was fine. She started threatening txts saying she would call the police if i didnt give her money. She was very threatening. I tried to explain that her money doesnt go in my paypal acc until 48 hrs after she checked in but i couldnt reason with her. I drove to Kendal to borrow the money from my 85 yr old mother and drove back. This womans behaviour was very scary. I felt threatened and very frightened and had no choice but to give a refund. i called the police because i was scared and worried she would say she hadnt had the money so i got them to witness the receipt. On checking i realise that i had given her a £20 discount which she didnt say anything about and has taken. when i went in the flat it was a MESS and as for the pans one was thrown in the bath with a razor in it damaging it. the bin was full and her shopping was left in the fridge which i packed and gave her. I feel the flat was fine she did nothing but complain she saw the photos and knew where she was coming had a FREE weekend and demanded money. she ruined her childrens holiday which was a shame as they were having a ball they were banging so hard on the ceiling dancing i thought they were going to come through it . In all honesty i am glad shes gone i dont want anyone like that here again. VERY THREATENING AND DEMANDING MONEY. HOLIDAY LETTINGS WOULDNT REFUND SAID IT WAS UP TO ME I FELT I HAD NO CHOICE. WORST HOLIDAY MAKER I HAVE EVER HAD. I FELT ILL AFTER SHE HAD GONE. BEWARE. PLEASE DONT COME BACK. TRY PONTINS. YOU HAVE TO BE QUITE INDEPENDENT TO RENT A HOLIDAY FLAT THIS PERSON COULDNT EVEN LOOK IN THE DRAWER FOR THE BAKING TRAYS. SHE HAS GOT IT IN FOR ME AND I DONT KNOW WHY I WOULD AND DID DO ANYTHING TO HELP HER. LIKE DRIVING 35 MILES FOR A DVD PLAYER. BUT I WASNT QUICK ENOUGH. I REALLY DO HOPE YOU FIND A HOLIDAY SOMEWHERE THAT YOU LIKE.

"A comfortable and homely stay"
The flat had everything required for a comfortable stay plus useful extras such as shampoo and basic cooking things. Lisa was very kind collecting us from the station as we arrived late by train and w… More
The tv could have been fixed. but i was only informed of it when guests were leaving. i cant fix a problem if i dont know about it.the aeriel had moved. It would have been fixed straight away. Also there were other channels working it was only a couple that werent. We have had extremely bad storms and as i am on the sea front i havnt been able to open front door to let the air flow through. The smell is only a bit musty because of being shut in which is quite understandable under the circumstances. Now the weather is getting better the front door can be open again and everything can improve.I am only a phone call away which i said at the very beginning of the stay and any problems that can be fixed i will do my best. Please dont wait until you leave to review about problems that can be fixed at the time. Im sorry that they put up with the tv for 4 days but never mentioned it. Also because they had arrived late on the tuesday and i picked them up from the station i offered them a free nights stay to make up for it. I think this more than compensates for a couple of minor problems which i am more than happy to fix to make youre stay a good one.

my daughter (who has learning difficulties) and myself had a lovely week staying at The Galleon. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from Lisa (the landlady) for whom nothing was too much trouble. Everything was as described in the advert and we found the apartment very comfortable and homely. Another bonus was that Lisa was so easy to get along with and always good for a chat and a laugh. Thanks for everything Lisa and we'll definitely be seeing you again.
