Country House for rent - " La Gantal " in Morcin village , Asturias northern of Spain.

The country house " La Gantal" is an old rural house that has been restored recently (2007) to suite the needs of our customers.

Our house is distributed in 3 floors and can accommodate up to 6 people.

Oviedo town is about : 15 km.

Gijón town is about : 30 km.

Very well coneccted by Oviedo and Gijón highway ( without cost ) about 2 km from the house.

Minimun stay : Lower season 3 / 4 days / High season 5 days

Its excellent location makes that our guests can enjoy various activities such as hiking in the "Xanas Route " the "Bear Route" , the " Trobaniellu Route" and " Sierra del Aramo" mountain biking around and visiting diferent places to discover and enjoy Asturias.

This country house is an old house (S.XIX) and has been restored to suit the needs of our customers.

To reach the rural house "La Gantal" take the highway A-66 ( which runs from Madrid to Oviedo) then take Exit 35 "Soto Rivera" on the way to " Soto Rivera" / "Argame" continue along this road untill the exit " Argame" and then instead of entering this town , you must take the road MO-5 on the left for approximately 6 Km to the village of "PEÑERUDES".

Once in the village take the first turn on the left continue on this road and take the second turning on the right and at the end of the street is the house.

The Asturias region

Asturias is one of the Spanish autonomies located on the Cantabrian coast, in the north of the Iberian peninsula. Its surface of 10,566 km2 stretches between the Cantabrian mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean, causing the area to have mild and rainy weather. The complexity of its orography and the proximity of the Asturian Massif to the coast has turned this region into a complex of summits, ranges and valleys drawn together by a wide network of short but plentiful rivers.

The territory can be differenciated in three well-marked areas: the coast, the mountains and the inner valleys. The proximity of the Cantabrian range to the coast makes for oceanic climate, without significant differences in temperature, with warm summers and mild winters.

With these mild seasons, Asturias boasts a great variety of floral and wildlife, as well as protected species of great ecological interest native to Asturias.

The extraodinary conservation of the mountains enables animals in danger of extincion to roam free. Bears, wolves and capercaillies are to be found living together with roe deers, foxes, chamoises, wiild boars, otters, a great variety of birds, insects and many different reptiles.

Advancing deep into the valleys and hills, there are countless forests full of beech, yew, oak, birch and holly trees, being the oak or “Carballo”, being the most popular among the Asturian trees.

Due to its varied landscape, Asturias invites us to enjoy and explore its nature.

Ascension Day. Fair dedicated to the country and crafts.

Martes de Campo or La Balesquida: Festivity held on the first Tuesday after Pentecost. This festivity originated in the 13th century thanks to the donation of property by Mrs. Velasquita Giráldez to the Tailors Guild to help the poor. It consists in a procession from the Balesquida chapel to the church of San Tirso, and then a meal of ?bollu? and wine in the Campo San Francisco (San Francisco Park).


19th. Day of America in Asturias, declared of National Tourist Interest. A great parade of floats and folk groups.


"Desarme" is held on the 19th. A gastronomic celebration with a menu based on chick-peas with cod and spinach, tripe and a typical dessert.
