Home description

Getting out of bed is fun at Casa Quinta! When you wake, take just a few steps out onto the upper terrace, to soak up the morning sunshine and enjoy the sensational Spanish landscape. Once you’re done with the sun, freshen up in one of the modern bathrooms, then move downstairs to enjoy making breakfast in the luxury fitted kitchen. Or if you prefer, choose from the spacious living and dining area or private garden as the scene for a bit more relaxation... The ideal awakening, and the perfect setting to plan the day ahead.
Deciding how to spend your day is a pleasure too, because the options couldn’t be better...

Casa Quinta is situated in a private community residence which shares a superb freeform swimming pool, a short tennis court, fitness track and a second large heated swimming pool. Nestled together in spacious gardens, these facilities offer things to do for those who wish to be active, meet fellow holiday makers, or simply find a quiet space to relax in privacy.

When you decide to leave the villa, the lovely town of Moraira is just five minutes away. Relax on its beautiful sandy beaches, enjoy fantastic bars and restaurants - or if you’re lucky - one of Moraira’s unique fiestas.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

For most of the year the sun shines on the Costa Blanca! 325 days a year, according to the statistics, with an average temperature of over 19 degrees. From the middle of March you won't need any heating in the house and the pool and sea will start to warm up. They will be at their warmest by July and August and although the sun is hot, there is usually a cooling sea breeze!

It will still be warm enough to swim in October, especially in the community's heated pool- but in November the nights will start to cool - you may need the central heating,or that log fire in Casa Quinta. But the days will usually be sunny and warm - I have sunbathed at Christmas and seen people swimming in January- and those amazingly clear spring days are the perfect time for walking in the mountains!

Moraira lies between Alicante and Valencia, both interesting and historical cities to visit, and closer to home is Benidorm, busy in high season, but delightful in winter, and worth a visit for its fabulous selection of theme parks - Terra Mitica for some exciting rides, Terra Natura for the animals, or Aqualandia to cool off in the water.

There are lots of other places to visit if you can tear yourself away from the pool - the pretty town of Altea with its old town dominated by a beautiful blue-domed church, lively Javea with its sandy beach, and don't forget Calpe - you can climb the Rock (the Penon D'Ifach) if you are brave enough! Or take a drive into the mountains for some spectacular views, especially in February when the almond blossom covers everywhere with a veil of white, or April, when the heady scent of orange blossom fills the air.

Moraira / Tabaira area

Just a short and shady walk from Casa Quinta, (0.5K) you will find the small shopping centre of Tabaira. Here you will find everything you need, and no need to get into the car! There is a well-stocked supermarket (beware though, it is shut from 1.30 – 4.30 pm for siesta), a bakery, a paper shop, a hairdresser and several bars and restaurants.

Choose from the Welcome Stranger, serving bar meals and breakfasts all day, the Pizzeria to take away if you wish, or just a coffee or a beer at one of the bars. At this little oasis you can also find a car hire and taxi office, a public telephone booth and a post-box for that postcard home

For a slightly longer walk (or drive, it’s just 1.2K away!) the Sol Park tennis and leisure club beckons. Here you will find something for everyone – tennis, mini golf, bowling, pool and the popular Los Leones restaurant and bar. Just a little further down the road you will find a pharmacy and Pan, Pan, Jamon, Jamon, a delicatessen and restaurant which is a big favourite with locals

But just 3K away you will meet the beautiful beach town that’s sure to win your heart.... Moraira is a traditional fishing village that has evolved over time into an exclusive holiday town. Its unspoilt landscape is free of high-rise hotels - a quality that helps the town remain as stunning as it is friendly and welcoming. Its intimate surroundings offer something for everyone. Hot up on the Blue Flag sandy beach, cool down in one of many friendly bars, and enjoy a different style of cuisine every day of the week in Moraira’s numerous and varied cafes and restaurants.

BEACHES

You have a fabulous choice of beaches in the Moraira area, and my favourite is in the picturesque village of El Portet. Horseshoe shaped, sandy and gently shelving this is the perfect spot to swim, sunbathe, or sit at one of the cafes and soak up the atmosphere and fabulous views! El Portet is just a kilometre from Moraira and you can walk there along the coastal path and enjoy breathtaking views of the marina and the clear, sparkling blue water. Moraira's main beach is larger and also sandy and safe, with a lifeguard in the summer months, or you can travel out of Moraira towards Calpe. First you will come to the half rock, half sandy beach of Platgetes, and then there are many more rocky coves to explore. If you want to travel further afield, try the wide sandy beaches at Calpe, and the lively Arenal beach at Javea

WATER SPORTS and more!!

For the more adventurous Scuba Moraira, the Mermaid Diving centre, both located in the centre of Moraira cater for Scuba divers at all levels, or try the Las Basetes Centre, a few miles out of Moraira on the Calpe road. This diving centre is situated in its own small bay and is perfect for families. You can hire a jet-ski on Moraira seafront, try the Go-Karts at Font Santa, (situated on the Moraira - Teulada road), or go horse-riding at Benimarco, a small village a few miles from Moraira

GOLF

The nearest course to Moraira (9 holes) is Golf Club Ifach at San Jaime, just outside Moraira on the Calpe road, or Golf Club Javea (also 9 holes) about 4K from Moraira on the road to Javea. A little further afield at Denia, you can visit the beautiful Club de Golf La Sella, designed by Jose Maria Olazabal in 1990, or the Oliva Nova course at Oliva, designed by Severiano Ballasteros in 1995.

(Please note that details of all of these activities can be found on the Internet, but please contact us if you would like us to supply further information or contact telephone numbers for any of the activities mentioned)

FIESTAS!

But maybe best of all are the fiestas-you can always find a fiesta somewhere in the region-but in Moraira they are a bit special! In December there is the local gourmet festival, where you can sample the delights of some of the town's most expensive restaurants at reduced rates, and then in January the Three Kings arrive, usually on the beach, sometimes by hot air balloon. This is a colourful spectacle for children and adults alike - the 'kings", borne to the town square on horseback to hand out presents to local children, throw handfuls of sweets as they make their way through the town. Next is Easter, the most important religious festival in the calendar and June brings the Moors and Christians Fiesta. This week long fiesta (held during the second week in June) has everything! There is the parade of the flowers, women, children and even small babies parading through the streets with wonderful flower displays, the mock battles on the beach between the opposing filas (groups), fighting it out for possession of the castle - always a noisy affair - and much more. You can dance through the streets with the filas' bands on the "night of the filas", and enjoy the final parade and the truly fantastic firework display on the last night of the fiesta

Spanish fiestas are wonderful friendly affairs, with the whole family out on the streets enjoying themselves, dressed in their "Sunday best". The next one in Moraira's calendar is in mid-July and honours the Patron Saint of Moraira, La Virgen de los Desamparados and the Virgen del Carmen, the Patron Saint of Fishermen. This fiesta lasts for ten days - there are lots of fireworks, firecrackers, dancing till dawn and even bulls, although they are away from harm's way in the port area! The highlight of this fiesta is when the statue of the Virgen del Carmen is paraded solemnly around the town, and finally taken out to sea, to be followed by dozens of small boats, usually even a tiny rowing boat! This evening too ends with a fantastic firework display

In August there is the L'Andrago fiesta, a quieter affair, where locals light fires and picnic on the beach when darkness falls, and the first week in September brings the Muscatel festival in Teulada, a chance to sample the local wine.

How to get there

You can fly either to Alicante, which is about an hour's drive from Casa Quinta, or to Valencia, which is just a little more. All of the budget airlines fly to these airports from all parts of the UK, and there are some bargains to be had, especially out of season and if you book early

Car hire is available cheaply, (contact us if you would like more information) but if you don't want to drive we can help you to arrange airport transfers
