The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The North is the prettiest part of the Costa Blanca with the splendid long golden sandy beaches in Calpe and Javea, and rocky coves backed by rugged green mountains in Moraira, Benissa Coastal and Altea. The climate is described as one of the most healthy in Europe - just wonderful as there always seems to be a soft breeze on the hottest of days and such lovely balmy evenings to follow. Its main towns of Denia, Javea, Calpe and Altea still retain their historic centres of considerable charm and are all within easy reach of the villa. Here you will find the vibrant buzz of Spanish street life with many shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars, marinas and places of historic interest.
Behind the coast lies the slow and tranquil world of the Jalon Valley. Jalon itself, famous for its local wines, lies at the centre of the valley, surrounded by many small villages nestling amongst grape vines, almond and orange trees. The valley is encircled by mountains and is a walkers' paradise.
To the south, about a 15 - 20 minute drive (depending on traffic) is Calpe with its huge craggy rock outcrop 'Penon del Ifach' perched high on a peninsula connected by a sandy isthmus. This is home to some 300 species of plants and colonies of birds. The old town around the restored 'Torreo de la Peca' tower was a Phoenician trading post and retains much character. The restaurants in the old town are particularly good. There are many good shops in Calpe town and three long golden sandy beaches. Old Town Altea is not to be missed, particularly in the evenings!
Some 45 minutes down the coast lies Benidorm, which has a wealth of entertainment including night clubs, bars and many restaurants and hotels. Before arriving at Benidorm you will find Terra Mitica (The Land of Myth), a giant theme park which is a real treat for the children! Very close by is Aqualandia, a giant waterpark with water slides, rides and fun swimming pools, and Mundomar Benidorm Zoo.
Moraira / Benissa area
The smart town of Moraira is approx. 10 minutes drive with many interesting shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets - and a glorious view of the sea on the way! It has grown from a small fishing village to an attractive holiday resort, still retaining its charm. It has some lovely shops, harbour side restaurants and bars. There are 8 Michelin recommended restaurants in this area - 3 being star rated and not expensive. Moraira has a colourful market each Friday morning which is extremely popular. Even so, the parking is easy as Moraira is a well thought out town with great car parks and traffic flows well, even at the height of the season.
Elsewhere and closeby to Moraira and Benissa you will find golf, cycling, walking, sailing, surfing, scuba-diving and go-karting, horse-riding and more. There are also 3 excellent golf courses in the area: within 10 minutes drive is Javea Golf Club situated between Moraira and Javea. It is open all year round and comprises 9 holes, par 72 and 3,035 metres. The course is easy to play and relatively flat. Other facilities include driving range, putting green, heated swimming pool, club bar and restaurant. La Sella Golf Club is 15 minutes drive further inland and situated near the village of Jesus Pobre. This course has 18 holes, par 72 and is 6,029 metres. The course, although flat has many trees and water obstacles. Facilities include driving range, putting green, motorised trolleys, club bar, lounge bar, restaurant and swimming pool. Both the above courses have squash and tennis courts. Within half an hour drive to Oliva is Oliva Nova Golf Club, designed by Seve Ballesteros. This testing course has 18 holes, par 72, and 7,051 metres and has a shop, driving range, restaurant and swimming pool. The Monks and Christians 'festivals' in June and September are quite spectacular, often followed by the most dramatic firework displays.

Guestbook
Your villa was superb - the pictures don't do it justice - the instructions were very thorough and we had a fantastic holiday! The Roberts and the Kerrys, Sheffield.
We had a really great time and loved the villa. It was really well equipped and compared very favourably to all other places we have been. Fraser Watson, Aldershot, Hampshire.
We keep a Guest Book in the villa for 'all' comments for guests to view - it is full of very encouraging comments!
