Enquire nowThe Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Cumbre Del Sol (The translation: Hilltop of Sun) is an apt name for this beautiful costal location situated on the most eastern point of the Iberian Peninsular in the Valencia province, Spain.
The duplex is located at the highest point of Cumbre Del Sol in Pueblo Panorama. It gives stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the coastline from Javea to Calpe. Even Ibiza can be seen on clear days.
Only 10 minutes drive from the blue flag beaches of Javea and 20 minutes drive from the historical port of Denia this is an ideal getaway. A car is essential at this hilltop retreat though local restaurants, shops, golf courses, horse riding and many other things to do are all available in the surrounding area.
The Costa Blanca, Stretching from Dénia to Pilar de la Horadada, the Costa Blanca is as diverse as they come. With a mix of traditional Spain , rural & agricultural areas, long established holiday resorts & residential zones, there is something here for everyone.
Until recently the Costa Blanca was seen by many as an untouched coastline. Today it is a major travel destination for many European citizens, whether for holidays, travel or those moving there permanently. This has injected a cosmopolitan feel to the area, while retaining much of its traditional culture.
Already well known for being relatively inexpensive, with excellent beaches & a wide choice of accommodation, the Costa Blanca has a lot to offer. A great deal of investment has gone into the preservation of its historical & architectural heritage. There are many fiestas (festivals) throughout its calendar, some of which are a real spectacle & well worth a look.
The cuisine is another major bonus, with (affordable) good food available everywhere, alongside the middle to high end restaurants. Plenty of shopping opportunities also exist, ranging from souvenirs, local goods & handicrafts, to fashion items & modern shopping centres.
The Costa Blanca is also well known for its mild climate & enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. The sun is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Winters are typically very mild with averages hovering around 18°C (64°F).
The Moraira / Cumbre del Sol area
Local Towns
Javea / Xabia, 108 km (67 mi) southeast of Valencia, 92 km (57 mi) northeast of Alicante and 8 km (5 mi) south of Denia is a labyrinth of tiny streets and houses with Gothic windows which can only be appreciated by walking on foot. This ancient fishing village still holds its charm even with extensive tourism facilities. Javea's careful planning policies - restricting the height and type of new buildings - have preserved the beauty of the town and combined it with the modern and have made sure that Javea stays a true jewel of the Costa Blanca.
Denia - Denia's setting amidst orange and lemon groves is truly spectacular. It has a population of approximately 29 000 and grew initially from a seafaring town and is still a busy port today. The harbour has an important Ferry Terminal serving the Balearic islands and a new impressive modern yacht marina
Benissa - Known for the the white church similar to the churches painted by Constable, built in the 1920's by pious masons from Benissa. The town has not yet been redeveloped on a large scale, and it's 4 km coastline still offers small quiet beaches. Marine activities and water sports can be enjoyed here.
Alcalali - It is located in the Pop valley half way between Jalon and Parcent. Originally a Moorish farmstead, it was depopulated when the Moors were expelled in 1609. It's 842 inhabitants are mainly involved in agriculture, especially grapes and oranges.
Jalon - The capital of the Pop valley, this is a lively town with craft shops, restaurants and wine cellars. In 1472, the Moors living there sent a collection of wines to the Valencian court and negotiated with traders in Javea the sale of a product which in time would become the base of Marina Alta's economy - raisins produced in the traditional 'rui-raus'. Raisins are still produced here in small quantities.
Lliber - The smallest village in the Vall de Pop region, next to the Jalon river, with 498 inhabitants. There is a cooperative in the village with their muscatel wines being a speciality.
Teulada - This village was inhabited by 52 old Christian families who grew muscatel grapes. There is a beautiful late-Gothic church built in honour of the patron saint St. Catalina.
Gata Gorgos - With it's white houses and ivory lintels, the village takes its name from the Gorgos river, also know as the Jalon river. The inhabitants make objects out of esparto and palm, and this is the main source of income, together with agriculture. The church was built in 1535, in the same year that the village became independent from Denia.
