Home description
A lovely apartment, perfect for a romantic getaway or a quiet break. Set in the foot hills of the Sierra Bernia mountains. Stunning coves and beaches five minutes drive away. The beautiful town of Moraira, with its many bars, restaurants and marina, is just ten minutes drive from the apartment, (Taxi will cost you about seven pounds) In the summer there is a nightly market selling crafts and jewellery in the town centre and a large market in the town car park every friday through out the year. If you like markets the The Jalon valley has a 'Rastro' every Saturday. The atmasphere is great and Its a wonderful feast for the eye. Takes about an hour to walk from one end to the other and you will see things you never imagined! There are several Bodegas where you can sample the local wine and brandies and buy enough to last your holiday for less that a tenner!
There is also a golf course nearby and several bars and restaurants within walking distance. We find its best to walk down, takes about twenty minutes, and then get a cab back on the hot summer nights!( About 4-5 pounds) Taxi's are no problem as any bar or restaurant will order one for you. Some of the restaurants are fantastic , one even has a singing chef! Does wonderful flame grilled meats and then sings you old Spanish songs . What more could you ask for! There is an Irish bar that has live entertainment most night of the week. The beaches in Moraira are mainly small rocky coves that never get very busy or there is the town beach that does fill up in the summer. and El Portet, a beautiful sandy cove , lovely for swimming, with small restaurants lining the promenade, perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down over the mountains and Calpe bay. If you would like large sandy beaches then Calpe or Javea or both within a short drive.
Other features of the area include the picturesque Jalon Valley, the Montgo mountain and Valencia is perfect for a day trip via the local train or car. You can also sail to the Balearics from Denia, half an hour away.
Holistic massage is also available - at reasonable rates - on request.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
From the Costa Blanca 'Wikipedia' entry:
Costa Blanca, with its striking mix of sandy beaches and top-of-the-line resorts, has somehow managed to fuse the sophistication of city life and the simplicity of nature into one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe. The water knows no age, nationality, or religion; people from all walks of life flock to Costa Blanca beaches to bronze their bodies and bask in the sun. When evening strikes and the moon is hung beautifully against the dark sky, many like to lie back on the sand and look at the twinkling stars.
There is over 100 kilometers of sandy beach from Valencia in the north to Murcia in the south, best known for the Blue Flags they have been given. The Blue Flag Awards are presented by the European Federation of Environmental Education (EFEE) every year, in recognition of the excellent quality of water and amenities.
In Javea , there are 25 kilometers of sandy beaches framed by palm trees and promenades. And, down south in Dénia , in an area named Les Rotes , are 20 kilometers of coastline with rocks and coves that fishermen and divers frequent. Some of the beaches in Benidorm are crowd favourites in Europe.
Moraira / Montimar area
Also from good old Wikipedia:
Moraira is a small coastal town in the La Marina Alta district lying 80km north of the city of Alicante and 100km south of Valencia. Moraira remains one of the most unspoilt resorts on the Costa Blanca, with 8km of beautiful coastline backed by mountains, and a permanent population of only 9,500, although this rises to 30,000 in summer. There is a high proportion of expats living here on a permanent basis, and the area is very popular with retirees.
Moraira’s roots as a fishing village have not changed much, and today the fishermen still go out in the early hours each day, bringing back a fresh catch which is sold by auction at the traditional fish market, one of the most popular in the Costa Blanca region. Moraira is also famous for the growing of Muscatel grapes for wine making.
Built in 1985, the Moraira Club Náutico has become one of the main nautical attractions of the Valencian Community and was one of the first to achieve the Blue Flag distinction for the cleanest shorelines in Europe
