The Costa Blanca is one of Spain's main holiday areas and is famous for its wonderful climate, typical Spanish villages with shops, restaurants, tapas bars, local pottery and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. You will find spectacular landscapes with rolling valleys and mountains, and breathtaking evening sunsets.
Benidorm, with its Terra Mitica theme park (Spain's answer to Disneyland), Aqualandia water park, safari park, Mundomar Marine Park (Sea world), discos and lively entertainment throughout the year is located half an hour away. El Vergel safari park is 30 minutes north (near Denia). Also in the area are a number of go-karting tracks. Valencia City is well worth a visit to see the City of Arts and Sciences and the spectacular aquarium 'Oceanografic'. The Jalon Valley, with famous Saturday flea market & fabulous wine is 20 minutes. Altea old town is also a must, with historic buildings among the cobbled streets, and a shoppers paradise with wonderful little shops. To name but a few...
The Moraira / Cometa area
Moraira is an elegant resort set in a large bay, with a soft sandy beach and breathtaking coastal views. Still retaining much of its original charm, this once tiny, fishing village has now grown into a lively and bustling resort that is one of the premier centres of this coast.
Moraira developed as the fishing port for Teulada, and both the lookout tower (Torre-vigia) on Cap d'Or overlooking Moraira's El Portet beach, and the Castle are reminders of the past. The village has four beaches, each very different in character from the others. The beach of El Portet is situated in a sheltered bay; quiet, with clear water and a gently sloping seabed, it is ideal for children and safe for swimming. You can enjoy a glass of wine in of the beach side bars, inches from the sea. The town beach is a large sandy beach with a play area, beach bar and restaurant. Platgetes is smaller, quieter and part sand / part rock; the fourth beach, L'Andrago is composed of a mix of boulders and pebbles and is ideal for snorkelling. Both north and south of Moraira are many secluded bays and small coves that are well worth exploring.
There are 3 excellent golf courses in the area:
Within 10 minutes drive of the villa is Javea Golf Club. Open all year round and comprises 9 holes, par 72 and 3,035 metres. The course is easy to play and relatively flat. Other facilities include: driving range, putting green, heated swimming pool, club bar and restaurant.
La Sella Golf Club is 15 minutes drive inland, near the village of Jesus Pobre. This course has 18 holes, par 72 and is 6,029 metres. The course although flat, has many trees and water obstacles. Facilities include: driving range, putting green, motorised trolleys, club bar, lounge bar, restaurant and swimming pool. Both Javea and La Sella clubs have tennis and squash courts.
Within a half hour drive north, in Oliva, is Oliva Nova Golf Club, designed by Seve Ballesteros. This testing course has 18 holes, par 72 and 7,051 metres and offers a shop, driving range, restaurant, and swimming pool.
Moraira has a weekly Spanish market on Fridays, whilst daily markets can be found in other local villages and towns. There is a huge car boot / market at Pedregeur, details can be found on our information sheets.

This is a fabulous villa. There is lots of space inside and outside. Inside: The bedroom upstairs is huge - our kids loved having their own space up there! The lounge area is large and clean and the kitchen is more than sufficient. Outside: So much space! The pool area had plenty of space for sunbathing. The pool was clean and a good size plus the kids were delighted it had shallow and deep ends. The BBQ area is seperate from the pool area and has loads of space. The kids absolutely loved it. Location: The villa is located in a quiet residential area, approx 15 minutes slow walk or a 7 euro taxi fare from Moraira. Moraira itself is excellent. Its not your typical holiday resort. I would say that there is a 50/50 mix of locals and tourists, most of whom were families. There appears to be no nightclubs but the town is awash with restaurants and bars. We were fortunate enough to visit during Moraira's summer festival, so the place was very busy and so alive - what a great atmosphere. All in all, the villa is all we could have wished for and Moraira is an excellent place for a family holiday. Oh, and as we didn't arrive until after 9pm, we were very thankful for the welcome pack! |

We found the villa to be clean, spacious, homely, well-equipped, well maintained, and family friendly (our son is 11 months old). It has a great pool with a lovely colourful garden. The villa is within walking distance of the town, harbour and beach. The town has a large choice of shops and restaurants but is not overbuilt like many Spanish resorts these days. The beach is sandy, very clean, and great for families. We had a fantastic holiday and will be returning this year. |
