The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The Costa Blanca is undoubtedly one of Spain’s most attractive regions with such coastal towns of Moraira, Calpe, Javea and Altea offering seaside fun for the younger families or, for those wanting a more relaxing time, there are places of interest to visit and places to eat and drink at the pace of an elderly snail. The climate here is superb and also rated very highly by The World Heath Organisation. This country produces spectacular landscapes with rolling valleys and mountains almost wherever you go and the evening sunsets, particularly in the winter, can be absolutely stunning. Aqualandia, Terramitica, Benidorm Palace, Fonts de Algar, and others! For those who want to leave their peace behind them there is plenty of activity available but (fortunately) these venues are well away from us being about 45 –60 minutes drive in the direction of Benidorm.
There’s Aqualandia if you fancy drowning someone, Terramitica, Paramount’s major new theme park for you to experience the ups and downs of life as well as the ancient civilisations of the Mediterranean. Fonts de algar, Great on a hot day you can walk up the side of the falls and get wet, but only if you want.
There are some great walks around the area, you can obtain walking maps from the tourist office. Feeling brave try walking to the top of the Mongo, or Calpe rock, and believe me there are many more.
Locally you have golf, right next door to a nice friendly tennis club with five astro turf courts for public hire,12 euros an hour. Also far enough away so that it cannot be heard a go cart track with some quick carts.
Moraira / Benitachell area
All the local towns have their origins in fishing and grape growing and much of this is still to be seen places such as Moraira, Calpe, Altea, Javea and Denia. They all celebrate the religious holidays and Moors and Christians fiestas that offer the visitors breathtaking street parades. For the family there is a wide range of restaurants and beaches nearby. Moraira this small popular town is fronted by a life guarded sandy beach, a promenade and marina. Amongst its quiet streets are cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. It also offers clean and attractive shops that cater for just about everything you need, including excellent chemists who converse in English. On Friday mornings Moraira has a very popular market where there is fresh fruit, vegetables, clothes and all manner of other interesting goods on sale.
