Enquire nowThe Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The Costa Blanca is now one of the most cosmopolitan areas in Europe, having a coastline of over 200 kms and made up of some of the finest beaches on the Mediterranean. Many of these beaches, including the ones around Moraira, enjoy a 'blue flag' status - the highest award that can be given within the EU. However, just a short drive inland and you'll find hillsides covered with terraced vineyards and lush-green citrus orchards, a legacy of the agricultural traditions of the area, and dotted with charming villages full of narrow streets and flower-filled squares.
The Costa Blanca region of Spain also has one of the best climates in the world as defined by the UN's World Health Organisation. Enjoying on average over 300 days of sunshine a year, summer temperatures rarely fall below 30C whilst winters are typically very mild with average temperatures around 18C.
Clues to the region's history are very evident as you explore its villages, towns and cities. Place names have their Arabic roots but it's the architecture which is most striking. Ancient villages were built on hilltops and always featured winding streets to aid defence against marauders. GUADALEST is a fortress village that dates back to the middle ages, perched at over 1500m on a mountain peak about 25 Kms inland from Benidorm; it is still only accessible via a tunnel passing through 15m of solid rock.
The inland areas of the Northern Costa Blanca are considered by many to be some of the most beautiful parts of rural Spain. Drive inland about 30 minutes from Moraira and you come to the JALON VALLEY which is an excellent example of this type of countryside with its natural beauty, lush vegetation and stunning mountain backdrops. The whole area is particularly attractive with olive and orange groves, vineyards and, early in the year, the wonderful scent of almond blossom.
For those seeking a more cosmopolitan experience, VALENCIA is about 1 hour's drive to the north. This is Spain's third largest city and offers superb modern shopping facilities as well as a wonderful, traditional fresh meat, fruit and vegetable market. Drive about 45 minutes to the south and you'll find BENIDORM with its unrivalled nightlife. However, other attractions at Benidorm include Mundo Mar Marine and Exotic Animal Park. The Park is home to a wide range of creatures living in a simulated natural environment with one of the highlights of the day being the amazing dolphin show. Next to Mundo Mar Marine is Aqualandia, which features a multitude of water entertainments. Finally, there's Terra Mitica. This spectacular theme park will transport you back to the Greek and Roman eras and has one of the biggest roller coasters in Europe.
The Moraira / La Sabatera area
Moraira is part of the municipality of Teulada, situated about four miles inland. In earlier times the centres of population were situated away from the coasts to offer some protection from marauding pirates and invaders - Romans, Moors, Berbers etc. Moraira developed as the fishing port for Teulada, and both the lookout tower (Torre-vigia) on Cap d'Or overlooking Moraira's El Portet beach, and the Castle are reminders of the past.
In more recent times this quiet and peaceful fishing port has become a busy yet pleasant resort, which can perhaps best be summarised by what it doesn't have. There are no high-rises, no large hotels, no package tours, and no large and noisy nightclubs. It is simply a small yet busy town with many shops, restaurants and bars, surrounded by whitewashed villas nestling on the tree-covered hillsides. It has a large and multi-national resident population, and therefore remains lively throughout the year. Its popularity can be judged by the very large number of visitors who return year after year.
Moraira has four beaches, each very different in character from the others. The beach of El Portet is the northernmost of these, being situated at the end of a sheltered shell-shaped bay, quiet with clear water and a gently sloping seabed, being ideal and safe for swimming. The town beach, or L'Ampolla, is a large sandy beach with a play area and restaurants. Platgetes is quieter and partly sand/partly rock; and L'Andrago is a boulder beach, ideal for snorkelling. Both to the north and south of Moraira there are many secluded bays and coves well worth exploring.
Watersports that can be enjoyed include swimming, snorkelling, scuba-diving, jetskiing, windsurfing, and for the less energetic, sunbathing. The three main beaches are all European blue flagged, and zoned and lifeguarded so that various activities can be enjoyed safely. Other sports include walking, climbing, cycling and horse-riding.
Golfing Activities
Within 10 minutes drive of the villa is a nine hole course - Javea Golf Club situated between Moraira and Javea. The championship course at La Sella Golf Club is 20 minutes drive inland near the village of Jesus Pobre. The course has 18 holes, par 72 and is 6,029 metres. The course although flat has many trees and water obstacles. This is a private members club open to the public. Facilities include: driving range, putting green, motorised trolleys, club bar, lounge bar, restaurant and swimming pool.

The villa was lovely and the whole moraira and Cora blanch are is fantastic. Unfortunately the tv didn't work at all, the barabucue is all rusted and looked dangerous, we did not have access to the table tennis table. We had booked for 2 weeks and were told we had to move out after a week as were told the villa had been double booked with the owners family. We were then offered 2 villas one of which was unsuitable the other although better did not have air conditioning which was one of the things we booked this villa for. We were also made to feel that is was our fault. We had 3 young children with us and did not expect to be treated in this way. Shame as overall it was a lovely villa. Response: The television was in full working order. The clients were informed in advance of the change of villa for the second week. Booked another luxurious villa for the second week at additional cost from a customer service perspective but they left this second villa in a dreadful state - even failed to remove a car load of rubbish from the first villa. Would not hand over keys to the first villa when requested to do so until additional mobile air conditioning units were provided. |

Great Villa , very well presented with loverly mature gardens big palm trees etc, our negative was the the built in gas barbeque which was so badly rusted including the burners that we could not use it , we normally book a villa like this for the purpose of having barbeques Response: Unfortunately this luxury villa, which is liked by all our international clients, had its barbeque badly "abused" by a previous UK family. The barbeque is now in the process of being renovated by the owners. |
