In an elevated position with spectacular views, this Villa was refurbished and extended in 2004/2005. The result is a large, quiet and stylish Villa that is also within 300m of a small supermarket, restaurants, beach bar (with rocky cove for swimming) and a bank (with ATM). A little further, and within walking distance, are two sandy beaches and the fishing port village of Moraira.
In the morning, the sun rises over the hills above El Portet - which can be seen from the upstairs bedroom (the 'tower room'), the pool terrace, the upper terrace and the 'Naya' (the glass enclosed covered terrace). During the day the sun moves around the pool terrace (which is perfect for private sunbathing), although areas of shade under the palm trees or in the Naya can be found for those who seek it. Later in the day you can enjoy watching the sun set from the west-facing barbeque area in the garden which is planted with bougainvillaea and young fruit trees (lemon, olive, pomegranate, orange, etc).

The Villa is used by the Owner during the year and he has taken care to equip it to a high standard which includes:

New open plan kitchen, off the entrance hall (with dishwasher, hob, oven, toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge/freezer, etc.)
Open plan sitting room with: CD/radio/cassette; large wood burning stove; access, via french windows, to the grassed area under the palm trees, and then to the stairs down to the barbecue area

'Naya' (the enclosed terrace), which is great for year-round use – being either warm or cool depending on whether the two double doors out to the pool/terrace are kept shut or open; this also has seating at a table for 10
Double bedroom in tower with ceiling fan and optional air conditioning/heating; this has an ensuite shower room as well as its own private door to the upper terrace with panoramic views over Moraira and out to sea (visible from from both the bedroom and terrace)

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The Costa Blanca is a beautiful part of Spain and has something to offer every visitor. There are sandy blue flag beaches with watersports of all descriptions. Inland there is superb scenery and historic, sleepy towns tucked away, waiting to be discovered.
The cities of Valencia and Alicante are well worth exploring, Valencia now being 'The New Barcelona' following the Americas Cup. For excitement Benidorm is the home of Terra Mitica theme park as well as the Aqualandia waterpark amongst many attractions.
The Moraira / Moravit area
Moraira, one of the most unspoilt resorts on the Costa Blanca. It has a picturesque sea front and harbour with 18th Century castle right next to the main sandy blue flag beach. There is plenty of easy parking so it is a pleasure to wander around the exclusive shops and try out the various excellent restaurants from traditional Spanish to Italian to Japanese. Whilst bustling it is never rowdy, a variety of Fiestas all year round add to the fun!
Moravit is a well established, very desirable area less than 10 mins drive to the centre of Moraira along the coast road. 5 mins walk downhill from the villa is the very smart L'Andrago complex of restaurants, bars, bank and shops set beside the beautiful cove with access into the sea, perfect for snorkelling . There is also a International Doctors (with 24 hour cover), pharmacy and newsagent only 5 mins drive away.
El Portet is a pretty bay with a lovely sandy beach just a walk from the centre of Moraira and all along the coast there are sandy,pebbly or rocky coves, some great for snorkelling, some hidden away, some with lovely little beach bars.
Calpe with its famous Penon de Ifach (a very large rock) is 20 mins drive away.
The lively town of Javea with the fabulous Arenal beach and Montgo mountain (can you see the elephant?) is 25 mins drive away.
The Jalon valley is also well worth exploring for its vineyards and Bodega, almond, orange and olive trees abound. The mountain drives are spectacular if you have a head for heights.

Travelled with two other families and spent a very enjoyable fortnight in this villa near Moraira. The location is excellent and the area has lots to do. The villa itself was large and generally well equipped so a group of 10 people were not tripping over each other - however it could have been better with a liitle bit of TLC. The garden was a bit overgrown and scruffy in parts, the garden furniture was tired with not enough parasols and the cooker was tempramental. All fairly minor irritations - but not ideal. If these issues were addressed the place could be superb. |
