The Catalunia region
Catalunya needs little introduction but has an enchanting blend of history, culture, gastronomy and beautiful coastline. Inland the main villages and towns are situated on the banks of the River Ebro, which offers a pace and quality of life that is rarely found in the UK any more. The river can be followed through the hills and valleys all the way to the delta. Where it is still possible to see wild pink flamingoes.
The nearest beach resort of L'Hospital de L'Infant is located just 30 minute drive away. It has a sand beach which gently slopes out to the sea and is ideal for children. There is a marina with fish restaurants on the quay side and various beach front shops. They hold a large Sunday morning market.
A 50 minute drive away is Port Aventura theme park and Caribe water park.
A 40 minute drive brings you to Bonmont golf club, where there is a Robert Trent Jones Jnr designed 18 hole golf course. 50 minutes drive brings you to the Portaventura golf club. Designed by Greg Norman.
The climate is better than Southern England with summers 10-12 degrees warmer.
Mora La Nova
Mora La Nova holds a traditional market which takes place on Wednesdays. Across the river is the town of Mora de Ebre where there are more shops and restaurants. This also holds a market on Friday.
We recommend hiring a car so you can use the villa as a base to tour the many rustic towns and villages which are renowned for their wines and picturesque views of the river Ebro.
A short distance by car and you can visit the medieval town of Miravet, with its templar Castle from the crusades perched on cliffs over the River Ebro. Miravet is also known for its large pottery workshop, which has to be visited to be believed.
For those artists amongst you, there is, as you can see from the photos, great painting opportunities from the grounds. We can also advise on other locations in picturesque villages and in the countryside.
In July the "Mora Morisca" takes place, where the Town is transformed back to the middle ages.
During August it is Festa Major, which includes racing traditional mullets on the river, pageant of the giants, foam party for the children, parade of the devils through the streets, (which includes a firework battle) and culminating in a firework extravaganza.
If you are looking for late nights/early mornings there are a couple of night clubs, which are within walking distance of the villa.

"Peace and tranquility"
Our first time at Finca Alessandra, it was a lovely villa in a beautiful setting. so peaceful overlooking the river and the views from the balcony were stunning, the children really enjoyed the pool. Jane could not have been more helpful and Would definitely visit again.

"Wow - what a place!"
It's not a lie when Jane and David (who are lovely and couldn't do enough to help) say this is a little piece of heaven, it was exactly what we wanted and needed... Peace and quiet but still with plenty to see and do. The pool was perfect for cooling down on the warmer days (especially after a fiercely fought table tennis match!) and fitting a little exercise into an otherwise totally relaxing holiday! The views were gorgeous and the fishing was superb... How can you top catching carp and catfish from just under the balcony?!?! The town is just a short stroll from the villa, where there are several good restaurants, as well as friendly bars and shops to cater for most needs. A 5* location, we can't wait to go back. :-)

"A fantastic place to stay."
This was the best holiday from start to finish. The Villa was very nice and was like home from home. The villa was so close to the river that you could see the fish and then go down and catch them (caught a 92lb catfish). The kids loved the pool, swings, trampoline and all the games. They loved all the wildlife too. Jane the owner was so helpful with all the infomation she gave us. She was a very good host and nothing was too much trouble. The villa was close to the town, supermarkets and all amenities. With our party of 8 we were all very happy and have already booked for next year.

"We all loved this place and have already booked for next year"
The villa is nicely appointed and sits next to the river with fabulous views. We chose it for the fishing for my 8 year old son and the proximity to Port Aventura, but on arrival it offered much more. My kids loved the grounds with the swings, trampoline etc, and when they werent fishing from the grounds or in the pool themselves, my wife and I were able to enjoy the pool and patio whilst keeping an eye on them. Jane, the owner, lives opposite and could not have been more helpful or charming, and nothing was too much trouble. It is close to the town, supermarkets and all amenities, and all in all it suited us all down to the ground.

"Idyllic spot for the perfect chill out!"
Arrived here after a hectic few days in barcelona and immediately felt calm and relaxed. The property is well equipped, nicely furnished and very clean. Its position right on the river makes for an idyllic location, difficult to drag yourself away from the balcony overlooking the river! Another added bonus was the large pool which was so warm we thought it was heated! Jane is the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble, close by for help and advise without being intrusive. We would recommend this property to all who want a get away from it all break although civilization and shops are only minutes away.

"Quiet riverside setting, fantastic pool"
We stayed at Finca Alesandra with our 3 children (12,14, 17) and my brother and his girlfirend. Villa perfectly suited to extended family with one bedroom downstairs and two upstairs. We loved it, sitting watching the river was lovely, and so peaceful. Even witnessed a massive electrical storm over in the mountains one evening. The pool is a really good size, ideal for a bit of holiday excercise as well as fun! Lots of space to sit out, and the BBQ is great. The walk into Mora La Nova is a bit of a challenge in the heat, but worth the effort for the atmosphere in the bars. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant at the end of the track. Really appreciated the air conditioning, especially at night. And one member of the party caught a catfish!
