The Derbyshire region
The Peak District is in the heart of England and its National Park was the first established park. The National Park authority ensures accessibility and a protected environment. For visitors this guarantees a picturesque and enjoyable visit. The region is particularly popular with walkers and cyclists with dales in abundance, ripe for exploration.
The wider area offers a significant number of attractions of interest to all, for example, the historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, for families, Gullivers Kingdom and for the more adventurous, go karting and Go Ape in ,close by, Buxton.Buxton , a traditional spa town is of interest, not forgetting to take along an empty bottle to capture the wonderful waters from the spring.Castleton's Blue John Caverns and Buxton's Pooles cavern offer an excellent 'rainy day ' trip.
For a little retail therapy, Chesterfield, Sheffield and Manchester are accessible either by car or by public transport from Bakewell or Buxton.
The pretty village of Monyash is situated in the Peak District Natiional Park in Derbyshire. The area has a reputation for dramatic secnery, pleasant walks and a peaceful environment. Monyash is located at the head of Lathkill Dale, one of Derbyshire's most beautiful Dales. Monyash's main focal points are the mere, church and village green, flanked by the popular pub and café. There is also a superb children's playground adjoining the pub garden.Monyash was traditionally a market town and the village green still boasts the market cross.
The beautiful, unspoilt town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings and pies, is 4.5 miles away. Here you will find an array of superb restaurants, bistros and pubs, all offering delicious regional menus using locaaly sourced produce.Bakewel has a wide variety of independent shops, a golf course, leisure centre with gym and swimming pool and a superb Monday market. The popular historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are both close by.
Walkers have a huge choice of Derbyshire Dales and moorlands across which to ramble, with the cottage providing a number of walk books, which guests are welcome to borrow.Cyclists have many trails, including the Tissington trail which passes just outside the village and where bicycles may be hired.

"A gem in a beautiful county"
Warmly welcomed with a locally produced pie. Cottage clean and beautifully equipped with all you could possibly need. Plenty of good information on local places of interest and further afield. A good local public house with excellent food within walking distance. Monyash is situated in a very beautiful part of Derbyshire and we liked the fact that Bakewell still has a lovely old fashioned toy shop, something that most other towns have lost.
