You will be tucked away in the heart of the Pyrenees where the pace of life is unhurried , relaxed and unspoilt by the trappings of Tourism. If you want to be dazzled by beautiful surroundings in a charming and friendly environment then this is the place for you. To the side of the property you are overlooked by a monument of historic interest, the ruins of a old Chateau marked with a large iron cross. Which illuminates the sky when lit in the evening.
The geographical location of the village ensures that with its favorable climate there are many activities to suit everyone all year round. The village has a wonderful restaurant, which serves top class French cuisine at very reasonable prices . There is also a Campsite with a bar and a swimming pool. Also a Tabac and Grocers a Patisserie a Post Office a Tourist Information office and a beautiful 11 the century Church. There is also a childrens play area,Tennis courts a football field an assault and fitness course. Take a cooling dip in the crystal clear waters of the river or for the fishermen, fresh water trout fishing. Further up in the village there is pony riding for all the family, from beginners to the more experienced.

This region is steeped in history as it was once home to the Cathars, a breakaway sect from the Catholic Church. During the religious wars of the Twelfth Century many great fortresses were built to keep out the attacking Crusaders. The most famous one being Chateau Montsegur. The awe inspiring Chateau perched high above the village was the last point of resistance against the crusaders. Hundreds were burnt to death for refusing to denounce there faith. This famous monument can be seen from the village and is a 5 minutes drive away..

There is a rich variety of wildlife and fauna in this part of France and many rare species of birds and plants are protected under French law.
Lavelanet - it is a 10 minute drive away and the 2008 Tour De France will pass through this town. It has 2 supermarkets, 2 Estate agents, several café bars and restaurants, a cinema, several patisseries, shops to to suit everyone, a tourist information office, and a local weekly market.
Lac Montbel - this is a 15 minute drive away. Crystal clear blue waters overlooked by the stunning peaks of the Pyrenees. Windsurfing, canoeing, swimming, fishing , pedaloes, electric for the lazier visitor and beautifully man made sandy beaches for the hardened sun worshipper. A bar and restaurant is located on the shore of this beautiful natural beauty spot, drink and dine and be stunned by the beauty of this real life oasis.
Mont Dolmes - it is just 9 Miles away from the village . It is an ideal opportunity to enjoy Skiing, snow boarding or sledging ,this ski resort has all the facilities one would expect including many bars, restaurants, ski hire shops and 23 pistes with 11 ski lifts. The resort caters for all levels and is especially suitable for young families, there is a childrens play area and a junior bungee jumping attraction. The Season runs from December to the end of March.
Montferrier is the last point of civilization on route to the ski station. This is an ideal base camp to enjoy brilliant skiing without the commercial trappings on a evening.
Ax Les Thermes - one of the main ski stations in the Pyrenees is just 30 minutes away,If skiing is not for you then take a relaxing dip in the healing Spas.
Andorra - the Pyrenean mini state of Andorra has long been a popular destination for skiers. Apart from the wonderful panoramic views of the Pyrenees there is also some great walking to be done in this area. Well signposted from Foix it is well worth a visit as it is among one of the cheapest duty free destinations in the world.
Mirepoix - twenty minutes drive away. This charming Medieval City is a place frozen in time and its stunning Cathedral is considered by many to be on a par with the famous Noire Dame in Paris.
The City is structured around the Market square by timber framed houses that have perched upon large timber supports for hundreds of years. There are enough bars and restaurants to satisfy everyone and the atmosphere is very laid back and relaxed. Market day is on Monday and there are a great many stalls which supply a large range of handmade wares. For those looking to invest in a property there are several estate agents.
Foix - travel West from Montferrier on the scenic D117 and after 20 minutes you will take in an awe inspiring Castle perched high up on a hill towering over the history rich Town. It is all too easy to loose yourself and all sense of time as you meander through the ancient cobbled streets of this City from another era There are no shortage of restaurants to choose from. There is a golf course nearby.
Perpignan - just over a hour and a half away by car .This is the point where the Pyrenees sink into the Mediterranean giving way to miles of beautiful white sandy beaches . The drive will lead you through some of the most beautiful scenery in France , ranging from wild gorges to lush vineyards.
If white water rafting is your passion then you will not be disappointed by the wild mountain river that gushes through Quillian. There are many boarding points .
Why not explore the vibrant mix of history and culture in the surrounding villages of Colliure. It was the unrivalled beauty of this village that inspired many artists including, Picasso and Matisse.

Carcassone - as well as being the nearest airport also has a fairytale city dating back to medieval times and has to be seen to be believed. So well preserved is this beautiful unicef world heritage site that it was used for the filming of robin hood prince of thieves.
