As ideal for mixed age holiday makers as it is for three couples! The two terraces can be integrated and there is plenty of room in La Maison for all to eat and socialise while having the second, self contained area, allows for privacy for those in Le Cottage. From watching a different video/programme, having a quiet kip, to creating a play area, all needs are catered for!
It should be noted that we are on a main road and there is some traffic noise. We think that this is the norm for any house only 200m from the centre a town that offers a true experience of the French way of life!

We had a fantastic stay in the Loire Valley thanks to finding this wonderful accommodation at the last minute. Patricia was amazingly helpful, responding to emails quickly and providing us with directions from Tours airport as well as a lovely welcome hamper of local foods, wine and beers. We booked La Maison which is beautifully furnished and decorated with an eclectic feel. It has a well equipped kitchen and a spacious living/dining area with french doors opening onto the garden. The boys (8 and 11 years) had great fun in the splash pool while we soaked up the sun reclining on the loungers after breakfast each day before heading off to one of the chateaux which are all within easy driving distance of the property. We had fantastic days out in Blois, Amboise, Chenonceaux and Loches, the boys particularly enjoyed La Clos du Luce (last home of Leonardo da Vinci) and Loches, both being exceptional value for money with lots to entertain children (interactive models of Leonardo's inventions & falconry, musicians, stilt-walkers and fire-breathers at Loches). Montrichard itself is a beautiful, historic town with markets, shops, restaurants and a 'beach' on the River Cher where you could happily spend a day swimming and sunbathing while the children have fun in the playground or mini funfair - you can also hire kayaks etc at very reasonable rates. The only issue you may have with the house is the restricted head height in the main bathroom but this is to be expected in a property of character and the second bathroom is perfectly adequate. Also, there is persistent road noise through the night, but this is a very small price to pay for being able to stroll into town in the morning to buy beautiful fresh croissants and bread - it really wasn't an issue for us - we soon got used to it and the quality of the accommodation far outweighed any mild inconvenience. I would whole-heartedly recommend staying at this property and, although we didn't see inside Le Cottage, I would imagine it would be perfect if you were a family wanting to holiday with grandparents as you would each have your own space. The quality of the towels and bedding should also be mentioned as they really were excellent. All in all a fantastic place to stay - I only wish we had been able to stay for a fortnight rather than a week - thanks Patricia - Salut! |

We spent a long weekend here to visit the International Garden Festival at Chaumont which was well worth a visit and much less traditional than Chelsea Flower Show! If you're a garden lover... more |
