About the home

Lovely romantic and historic cottage for two situated in secluded position on the hillside over looking the valley of the river Cher. The cottage has been fully restored to a high standard and has a large and comfortable lounge/ diner with well equipped corner kitchen; lovely bedroom with views across the valley, luxury shower room. Magnificent views across the valley from the sunny raised terrace. Maison Requin is one of 2 charming cottages fully restored to a high specification in quiet location, on the sunny south facing slopes of the village of Bourre with magnificent views over the River Cher.

Situated in the Touraine wine growing area central for the historic chateaux, famous Touraine vineyards ( local Sauvignon and Gamay, Vouvray (Chenon Blanc), Chinon and Bourgeuil (Cabernet Franc) and excellent restaurants, our cottages are close to the market town of Montrichard and the River Cher with lovely walks and cycle rides.

You will be central for visiting chateaux including Chenonceau, Chambord, Amboise, Villandry and Chinon, the famous vineyards (wineries) of Vouvray, Montlouis, Chinon and Bourgeuil; Sancerre and Pouilly are a 2 hour drive. You will have a choice of excellent restaurants within an easy drive. The River Cher is only 5 minutes away and great for walking.

You have a lovely sunny raised terrace with magnificent views. There is a large enclosed garden laid to lawn with fruit trees is shared with Maison la Grange; your terrace is not overlooked, nor will you overlook their terrace. The lady who looks after the property is on site.

The Loire Valley / Loir-et-Cher region

The Val de Cher is famous for the chateaux - lovely castles built from the local white stone in our village Bourre. Visit Chenonceaux just along the river, also Chambord, Amboise, Azay le Rideau, Villandry and many more lovely historic buildings.

Our region is also famous for the wines, sauvignon, gamay and carbernet franc. The most famous local wine is Vouvray made from Chenin Blanc. We are only two hours by Autoroute from Sancerre.

This is an all the year round location. Summers are hot (around 25-30) and winters cold (can be below zero - but enjoy our log fire and the local cheese and wine).

The Montrichard / Bourre area

Montrichard is a busy little market town with all the facilities you require, a market on Fridays, good restaurants and good supermarkets.

Bourre is a small village with a bar, butcher, grocer and baker and a pharmacy. We are almost on the river and you will enjoy walks along the tow path as well as walks in the woods of Montrichard which are close by.

“A very nice place” The house was very clean and well equipped the only slight problem was with the access road which is rather narrow.
