Townhouse | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Our house is situated in the centre of this famous and splendid fortified town. We have spent the last few years renovating this interesting, holiday home.
Built about 1875, our home is in the main square with immediate walking access to the restaurants, bars and boulangeries, ramparts walks and theatre
On entry, the ample living room with its travertine, tiled floor gives a homely welcome to our guests. Walk through the double doors to the modern kitchen. Meals can be taken here or in the garden room. The small, pretty courtyard garden is virtually unseen from the ramparts.
The top floor accommodates 1 twin bedded rooms for use and a shower room, including sink and wc. The front bedroom has amazing views of a busy French market on Saturdays or of a typical pretty street scene on weekdays. From the rear room you can spy over the terracotta roofs to the dog walkers or joggers on the ramparts.
The first floor houses the king bedded room which overlooks the main square. A spacious shower room with sink and wc, is available here
The town is steeped in the history of 1000 years. The statue of General Haig is behind the towns' fountain. This statue can be seen from the front view windows. Access to the Ramparts' walk with stunning views is just around the corner in any direction. You can end your walk on the ramparts during the summer months with a delicious crepe and a beer listening to one of the very talented groups that play outside at the Creperie free of charge. Your walk home from most parts of the town will be 10 minutes
The town has many country/river walks, Kayaking and fishing on the river canche, , a local swimming pool is about a 20 mins. walk.. Golf courses are a short drive in any direction. Northern France region
The house is situated in the Nord- Pas-de-,Calais department 62. It's a region bordered on the north by the English Channel and on the south by Picardy and the North Sea, on the northeast by Belgium. This region covers most of what was once the French part of Flanders, and the old province of Artois. This region has plenty to offer, the "Cote d' Opale" is an attractive west -facing coast with chalk cliffs, elegant resorts, and many sandy beaches; inland there are many areas of unspoilt countryside. The area has many interesting cities starting with Lille, the regional capital town and one of the great historic cities of Flanders; other interesting towns include Arras, Saint-Omer, Boulogne, Douai and Valenciennes.
The climate is normally about the same as the South East of England. There are many sporting activities, golf, sand yachting, canoeing, walking and cycling to name a few. As with the rest of France there are many brocantes (vide grenier) in the area.

The Montreuillois area has 1000 years of history. The architecture, chapels, regional cuisine and vast expanses of rural countryside offer something for every enthusiast. Walking, cycling, horseriding, golf and also canoeing all within easy access.
