3.5 hours from central London (35 minutes on the Eurotunnel from Folkestone to Calais, then 45 minute drive). Eurotunnel fare average £100 return for car and occupants.
The beautiful historic town Montreuil -sur-Mer is 4km from the house. Home to Victor Hugo and the setting for Les Miserables. Montreuil has cobbled streets, 9th century ramparts, hotels, bars, shops, banks and two Michelin star restaurants.

The Northern France / Nord-Pas-de-Calais region
The region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais is often over looked but has plenty to offer. The Cote d'Opale or Opal Coast is a really attractive coast with chalk cliffs, elegant resorts, and many vast sandy beaches. Inland there are many areas of unspoilt countryside.
The area has many interesting towns and cities Arras, Boulogne, Etaples, Saint-Omer are close by and there are many more places and sites of interest. One factor above all in favour of the Nord-Pas_de Calais as a place to visit is its proximity to the south of England and also Belgium. The beautiful town of Bruges is an hour and a half away.
For anyone travelling by car from the UK the region is very accessible for a weekend break or a short stay taking advantage of the cheap short stay return fare offered on the Eurotunnel & ferry companies
The Montreuil-sur-Mer area
Golf at le Touquet 16km away. Many interesting WW11 sites including the awesome war cemetery at Etaples- the largest Commonwealth war cemetery in France.Michelin starred restaurants 10 mins away. Many seasonal local markets.

We spent between Christams and had New Year in the house and have to say with three large familes there was ample room and enough space for all to have fun! Real log fires and burners, well equippid kitchen facilities and cooking, lovely large rooms for relaxing, and very spacious bedrooms too. The house is situated with a small shop or local delivery service nearby and great for topping up on bread wine cheese etc, or alternatively a 15 minute drive to Montreuil or nearby for a large hypermarket for everything you might need. Beautiful grounds surround the house and in summer would be ideal for walks etc. Highly recommended we cannot go this year but will defuinately use in future it is like a home from home too...trust me! This house is very special with its spacious rooms and wonderful gardens. It is elegant and very traditional with its amazing kitchen and utility rooms all with beautiful tiling on the floors. The sitting rooms are comfortable and large with fireplaces and the whole house has charm with its unusual photographs and cinema posters. We were reluctant to wander far being so at home in this welcoming house but we did take trips to Montreuil (with its ramparts), Le Touquet (with its shops and restaurants) and the beach at Berck. It was a lovely holiday and we hope to go back in the future. |

This is an amazing house in beautiful countryside. We had a lovely holiday, the house is huge, and the kids can run a little wild. its really a comfortable, relaxing place to stay. you need a car, but nothing is very far away, the villages and towns in the surrounding area are lovely to visit, and the beaches at Le Touquet and Berck are fabulous. We thoroughly recommend. |
