Home description
A converted barn into a superb, comfortable gite. Made of stone and chestnut construction, many of the features have been left in place and worked around to leave a wonderful character to your surroundings, for when you relax at the end of the day; whether you've been sightseeing or playing in the Pyrenees
The gite is spacious and has a fully equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are all en-suite shower/toilet/sink and all individually designed with huge showers. Ample seating area to sit and chat, or watch a DVD. The gite has heating.
The bedroom windows all look out straight onto the mountains, spectacular!! The location is excellent for most outdoor activities, nearest ski resort is only 25 minutes away, and Spain (for cheap booze and petrol) is a mere 20 minute drive from us.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Haute-Garonne region
Right in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains. The weather is very moderate considering the altitude, but the southerly location makes for very warm/hot summers, that seems to last forever. Of course there's snow in the winter for all that lovely skiing. The Pyrenees are older than the Alps and have some interesting prehistoric caves to visit with some of the oldest hand paintings in Europe. St.Bertrand de Comminges is just down the road, a wonderful walled village with a magnificent cathedral dating back to 1300's. Luchon is a 20 minute drive, the capital of the Spa towns of the Pyrenees; for spas and thermal dips, massage and treatments. 5 ski resorts all reachable within 1 hour. This is of course, Tour de France country, and once again it passes the top of our village as they descend the Col des Ares. Every year it comes through the Pyrenees and we're never more than a few minutes from it here. The river Garonne is a 5 minute drive for fishing and white water rafting.
Troubat a 10 minute drive away is excellent for climbing and has in the past hosted the World Championships. In Ore itself there is an excellent crag for the more experienced among you.
Montrejeau / Ore area
Montrejeau is a lovely little town with some good cafes and restaurants. Market day is a Monday, to pick up some bargains. There is a choice of supermarkets here for all your groceries.
Ore itself doesn't have any facilities, it's just beautiful here. You can set off from here by foot for some excellent walking. The cycling around here is a dream for the enthusiast, and can be easy going for the rest of us. Most outdoor activities are almost on our doorstep and certainly not far away; we're on hand to point you the right way and answer most questions.

Guestbook
"Thanks Rob and Carol for a brilliant week. You have chosen a great place to live and we loved the gite. We were thinking of coming over again next summer but have decided to come back for the ski season, so we’ll see you this winter as well! All the best." Mike and Jo Bristol
"Fantastic, top class gite, the best welcome from lovely people; too much wine! Seen the most wonderful scenery easily accessible from here. Took our breath away. Come here or miss out big style! Already planning the return visit; it is so beautiful and so much more to do." Adi and Shell Baildon
I thought I’d just drop you a note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay in your gite earlier this year. The accommodation was perfect as were the self-catering facilities. The location was spot on and all the activities you promised us really were so close. Thanks for all the advice on what to do and where to go" Henrik and Marian Holland
"What an absolute treat, we now know why you’re "in awe in Ore". Gites are amazing and all that wood is so characterful, a real home from home. Thanks millions!!" Rebecca & Derek Chorley
