The Midi-Pyrenees / Hautes-Pyrenees region
The whole region dates back to the 13th century and is steeped with history. It has the cleanest air ( Ideal for asthma suffers) and the freshest water you can drink straight from the fountains.It has four distinct seasons and boasts a midi climate.The locals speak a language of there own but will converse in normal French. Luchon is one of the famous spa towns and has many health benefits
Montrejeau / Mauleon Barousse area
Over the whole region, there are many activities based around the hills and rivers, with walking and good cycling it makes this a special region for active holidays. You can partake in canyoning or canoeing, even rafting down some of the most impressive gorges in France. The area is riddled with dramatic show caves of which a prime example is the Grottes des Gargas. Each year the mountain stage of the TOUR DU FRANCE passes within the region of Mauleon Barousse.Throughout the summer each village has its own fete starting in June, music, tasting wine and good food. St Bertrand des commings famouse for its cathredral and many festivals of art is only four miles away

We enjoyed our stay at Club Pyrenees during September in a clean good quality apartment situated in a peaceful location with lovely views a good base for visiting medievil villages and Lourdes. Terry and Margaret Lancs England.
