Le Maine Bregou is a beautiful 17th Century farmhouse, newly refurbished with consideration having been given to retain original features keeping the character of the property. The farmhouse is 5 min walk from the small village of Montignac where a bar restaurant can be found, and the stunning views across the valley and River Isle can be enjoyed. Le Maine Bregou is reached by a private lane. The property is south facing and has a tranquil view across undulating farmland. Montpon on the river isle the local town is a 10min drive and has supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, banks ect and a Wednesday market. The property is 20min from 2 swimming lakes, 45min from the Dordogne river for canoeing ,1 hour from the coast and is situated in the centre of the beautiful Bergerac and Bordeaux wine region.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

Aquitaine, Gironde, home to some of the most famous wines such as Médoc, Pomerol, St Emilion, and dessert wine Sauternes, not forgetting foie gras, armagnac and truffles. The city of Bordeaux is the region's capital and is approximately an hour away.

The Atlantic coast is approx 1hours drive to Arachon with Dune du Pyla the highest sand dune in Europe. Beach at Royan is approx 1.15hour drive. Aubeterre, lovely man made beach on the river Dronne, approx 45 min drive. Lac du Jemaye approx 15 min drive north and Lac du Gurcon approx 20 min drive south are both large swimming lakes, with man made beaches, pedaloes, canoes, horse riding, playgrounds, crazy golf, snack bars and picnic areas. Canoeing on the river Dordogne at Ste Foys approx 45 min drive.


Montpon Menesterol / Montignac Village area

Montpon is a 10min drive and has supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, banks, market day is Wednesday. Winding its way past the town is the river Isle which offers canoeing, fishing, also on the banks is a young peoples play park, skate park and wine tasting. Aubeterre- 40 min drive, a beautiful hill top village, perfect for a relaxing lunch. Perigueux - 45 min drive, capital of the Dordogne, . The pretty town of Bergerac - 40 min drive and the River Dordogne. Bordeaux - 45 min drive, city life.There is all manner of local activities and attractions to visit to suit everybodies taste. you can sample the local cuisine in the fantastic bars and restaurants, try frois-gras and cepe mushrooms the areas delicacies. The location is in the heart of Bordeaux and Bergerac wine country.

The property sits on the edge of the Foret de la Double, where you can ramble, horse ride or bike and take in the beautiful scenery, or you can fish around the lakes that can be found nestled amongst the woodland.

The medival walled town of Saint Emillion is approx 40min drive where you can wine taste at the chateaux and there are impressive caves to visit. L'Entre Deux-Mers has wine tasting and Sallebruneau castle.

The area is surrounded with pretty Bastide towns such as Castillon la Bataille, Ste Foys la Grande and Libourne.

Periguex with its stunning cathederal and achitecture. The newly renovated 17th century city of Bordeaux, established on an estuary offers shopping boutiques, museums, art galleries to visit, or you can just chill out on the key side and watch the world go by.

There are colurful markets selling local produce and crafts and in the summer cultural festivals are organised from rock to classical recitals, theatre and fireworks!

Local Sunday market at St Seurin 20min and also at Libourne 30min. Riberac 30 min drive, a bustling Friday market town. During July and August the town of Le Pizou 15min holds a night market every Tuesday which has a great atmosphere.

How to get there

The nearest airports are Bordeaux approx 1hour drive (BMI Baby fly from birmingham) and Bergerac (Flybe fly from Birmingham, Ryanair fly from Nottingham East Midlands). Car hire is available at both airports, a car is essential. Saint Malo is the nearest ferry port approx 5-6hour drive. Calais approx 8-9 hours drive. Montpon the local town has a main line train service Bordeaux-Paris.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a high beamed room with pool table, comfortable chairs and book case. You step down through an arch into the cosy beamed lounge with leather settee and chairs, UK Satellite TV, DVD, video player, and large Inglenook open fire.

Bedroom 1: 1 King sizebed, 1 single bed, fully furnished in pine.
Bedroom 2: 1 king size bed, fully furnished in dark oak.

Showeroom with basin and WC, also there is a separate WC.

The utility room is situated between the separate WC and showeroom and has a sink, washing machine, iron, ironing board, sweeping brush and hoover.

Full central heating. The open fires provide attractive additional warmth during the colder months. Price includes normal use of electricity and gas, £25 additional charge in winter.
Food welcome pack provided to suit.
No smoking in farmhouse.

Linen and towels provided, changed weekly. Please bring own pool/beach towels. Cleaning service available on arrangement.
