The 14th Century Domaine De Favaze is one of the most charming properties within the Simply Chateau collection. This quiet and refined chateau is a beautiful countryside retreat.

The Domaine De Favaze boasts 5 huge bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom, sleeping up to 10 guests. The house boasts an indoor winter garden salon with exotic flowers, and a superb outdoor swimming pool and terrace area. There is also an indoor sauna and Jacuzzi is to be found in the annexe.

Kola the housekeeper lives next door and is there to help you to enjoy what will be a unique holiday experience. The Domaine De Favaze shares its name with the delicious local wine, and the chateau is just a 20 minute drive from Montpellier and the coast. The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

The South of France has spectacular gorges, beaches, landscapes, chateaux and some of France’s most popular cities. The Eastern Languedoc has 2 major capitals, Nimes and Montpellier. Nimes is a huge city famous for its textile industry, Roman remains and is France’s one of France’s major bullfighting towns. And the buzzing and historically multicultural town of Montpellier is worth a visit. Many of the beaches outside Montpellier are largely untouched. Toulouse is the cultural capital of the South of France and the Languedoc, with founded claims to be the European capital of poetry! very evident Medieval history, Mediterranean beaches, immense cities and the weather to match. Some of France’s best chateaux to hire are found in the south of France and Languedoc region, and it’s a wonderful place to enjoy a holiday chateau in France. The south of France and Languedoc has such a diverse landscape, you have stylish and chic yacht resorts, rolling valleys and rivers.

Montpellier area

On your door steps you have the sea and beaches. There are plenty of beautiful villages to visit in the vicinity including Sommieres and its Saturday morning market , Aigues Mortes, Saint-Martin, les Matelles, les Saintes-Maries de la Mer, Uzes, Anduze, Saint Guilhem le désert, etc... The environment is peaceful and inspiring, with cypresses and other Mediterranean vegetation framing the simple and graceful structure. If you can bear to leave the property, small towns, festivals, sport and cultural events beckon for memorable day trips. Montpellier (15 miles), Nîmes (15 miles), Le Pont du Gard, Carcassonne are all within short driving distance. Long sandy beaches like Cap d'Agde are 25 miles away, medieval towns like Sommiéres within 6 miles and la Camargue (Aigues-Mortes) is 31 miles away. Some great wines are produced locally and visits with degustations can be organised, the most important being crus du Pic St Loup and Gres de Montpellier. There are golf courses, a bridge club, and wonderful local almost daily markets. There are large supermarkets just a short ride away and fresh bread can be bought 5 minutes away in the next village. The Camargue with its wonderful horses is a pleasant drive and you can play tennis in the next village (the local shop; has the key!!!). Roman cities like Arles and Nimes are a short drive away and many delightful villages are scattered close to the Bastide.

The rooms are on three levels, the lowest being partly underground with beautiful exposed stone walls and vaulted ceilings, cool in summer, warm in winter. Charming pool, 7x5m, lined with colourful Moroccan tiles, well lit at night. A dozen stately steps lead up to a wide hallway on the first level. Huge dining room with view of the pool, modern, fully equipped kitchen and highly decorated sitting room with turn-of-the century furnishings, Moroccan artifacts, grand piano. There is also a television room with satellite TV.

Winter garden with hi-fi, synthesizer piano. A couple steps below lies a magnificent bedroom with a king size bed, an intriguing circular sofa, high, beamed ceiling, tiled floor. From this room a spiral staircase leads down to a spectacular bathroom with hexagonal bathtub, Jacuzzi, sauna, shower cabin, toilet. Also on the second level in another wing is an elegant suite with bedroom (double bed), sitting room and bathroom with shower and toilet. It opens to a terrace facing south. Two more bedrooms, each with a double bed share another attractive full bathroom with tub and toilet. Fifth bedroom with double bed and shower room, toilet. More bedrooms for children could be open and made available on request. Winter dining room with fireplace. 740 sq. ft. terrace facing southeast.

Up a spiral staircase one reaches a wonderful retreat, a sunny tower room with great views of the countryside. Central heating. Telephone.

The manoir has a magnificent gated entrance that opens up onto a grand courtyard. To the right is the pool area. You can enter the manoir from each side. The owner also has a big plot of land opposite in house, where children can play, fresh fruit can be picked. There is a see of furr and olive trees.

Security deposit: €500. This is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
