Surrounded by lush green vineyards and olive groves, you can truly relax into the French way of life in Grabels with a vast variety of activities to choose from.

Leisure Activities in the near vicinity

Grabels has a tennis centre with a coffee shop, a riding school (3 km) a well-developed Karting track, and for cycling and mountain biking enthusiasts, more recently, an entirely newly built cycle track that runs through the whole of Grabels and continues right up to Ales.

There is also a challenging 18-hole golf course, beautifully landscaped among the greenery of pine trees, in the next village of St Gely du Fesc, 5km.

Enjoy canoeing and kayaking in the nearby mountain landscape of the Hérault and the famous mountain rivers of the Cévennes.

Other water sports such as surfing, water skiing and sailing are on offer at the nearby beaches and the breathtakingly beautiful lake Salagou, 30km away. Lake Salagou is also a popular for fishing, especially well-know for carp fishing.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

25 minutes south leads to numerous beaches with long stretches of golden sands such as le Grau du Roi and Carnon Plage, offering restful tranquility or lively water sports and beach games. There are also the world famous natural Étangs of the Petite Camargue with its wild flamingoes and white horses.

20 minutes north leads into the mountains with spectacular scenery, ancient villages and the meandering river Hérault with its gorges, natural caves and canoeing and kayaking facilities.

In only 15 minutes you are in the historic centre of Montpellier, with its impressive 16th century cathedral and a labyrinth of medieval lanes lined with street cafés and restaurants. There is an abundance of architectural treasures, museums, theatres, parks with fountains, vibrant street markets, and the Place de la Comédie, where the locals mingle with visitors and tourists from all over the world.


The village of Grabels has various shops, including its own fresh bakery, butcher, 2 grocery stores, pharmacy, post office, a small bar, a take-away pizzeria and a weekly street market.

There are horse riding stables nearby, and also an International Go-Karting circuit about 8 kms away.

For Golf enthusiasts there is an excelllent 18-holes Golf course 7km away at St Gély du Fesc with an open-air pool and restaurant for all the family.

Arrière Pays and Route des Vins:

Apart from enjoying the colourful bustle of the long stretches of fine sandy beaches or river swimming you can explore the tranquil and beautiful “arrière pays” (back country) and discover the Languedoc wine route where some of the finest French wines can be enjoyed. Did you know Languedoc is now the biggest wine growing region in France and therefore it is not surprising that its wines are enjoying a true renaissance in French wine culture.
