About the home

Situated outside the walls of the beautiful hamlet of Montone. A collection of lovingly restored cottages with views of Montone and the valley. The property is surround by 4 acres of land where you will find olive trees and fruit bushes. There are sitting areas where you can relax and take in the views or there are hillwalking paths that start outside the gate of the property.

Each cottage has its own private sitting area outside. Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with sitting and dining area. All bedrooms have their own bathroom and have been finished to a high standard. There is a beautiful swimming pool 5x15m with sun chairs and umbrellas. The property is very private but is still less than a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Hamlet of Montone. 10 minutes drive to Umbertide and 25 minutes drive to Perugia.

The lower level of the Torretta has a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 ring gas hob, oven with grill, extractor fan, large fridge freezer and kettle.

The kitchen is stocked with basic provisions such as tea, coffee, salt and pepper, olive oil etc and breakfast is provided for the first day.

We also provide a complimentary bottle of wine and beer to greet you on arrival. There is also a sofa bed (orthopaedic). A door leads to a storage area for luggage etc.

There is a stairs that leads to a large double bedroom (with either king or twin beds) with separate bathroom with shower.

The Torretta has a balcony with stunning views of Montone and from the window you can see down into the green valley.

Conditions

An additional security deposit of €150 is required on check in, which is fully refundable on final inspection of the cottage.

Prices include all linen, towels and final cleaning and an additional cleaning service is available at €10 per hour.


You may enter the property from 4.00pm on the arrival date and are required to vacate the property by 10.00am on the departure date. In the event you arrive before this time, or you would like to store your belongings after you have vacated, you may store your belongings in the common area where you are welcome to use internet and have access to a library.

The Umbria region

Montone is one of the 10 prettiest hamlets in italy. Located in the heart of Umbria. It is a place where peace and tranquillity is guaranteed. Surrounded by rolling green hills, this part of umbria is breathtaking. We experience all the seasons, there can be snow in winter with lovely crisp mornings after a good frost, spring brings new life and warmth back in the air, the summers are warm with August usually being the hottest and Autumn start to cool again.

Montone is full of history with its fortress like walls that were used to protect the hamlet from invaders. For the festival of the santa spina in August and April the locals dress up in medieval clothing and compete with games of archery and other medieval competitions.

The Montone area

There are plenty of beautiful places to visit in the area such as Assisi, Perugia, Sancepolcro and Trasimeno lake to name just a few. For those who like activity there is plenty to do, horse-riding, truffle hunting, cookery lessons, wine tasting, boating and surfing on the lake, water park in umbertide, tennis club, football and a fantastic golf course 15 mins away. Apart from all of that there are plenty of festivals during the year, the umbrian film festival is held in Montone in June, festival of the santa spina in August, festa del bosco in October.

There are also plenty of festivals in the surrounding are such as umbertide, citta di castello, trasimeno lake.

“A Truly Magical experience, pure bliss” My boyfriend and I stayed in La Torretta for a week in July. Our apartment La Torretta is on two levels with a beautifully fitted kitchen/living on the ground floor & a fabulous bedroom & bathroom on the top floor, with the most comfortable king size bed we have ever slept in. The view from the room was breath-taking, looking out over the rambling hill's of Umbria & onto the beautiful walled village of Montone, it was like a dream. Another little treat in our duplex apartment was the fantastic bathroom & the view from our shower was amazing looking out over the neighboring vines.There is a garden area outside each cottage with really comfy chairs, table & umbrella, great to just relax & to top it off the 15m pool with the most amazing view I have ever seen. It was so tranquil & not overlooked in anyway!!! By the way no need pack any water floats, there all there for you. When we arrived in Casa delle Grazie we were delighted to be greeted with a welcome pack, there was a bottle of local wine, beer, milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, bread, butter jam, salt and an itenery of places to go & see in the area. It was a great idea as, we went to Assisi, about 30-40 minutes away & to a local festival of food, music & culture, both trips were something really special. The local supermarket is only a 10 -15 minute drive with beautiful fresh produce & is really great value. There are also markets on locally, which are great fun, definitely a must see. Also what we found great was the laundry facilities right beside the cottages & a lovely little library of books, you can bring to the pool with you. The local village of Montone is only a 5-10 minute stroll. It is like something out of a fairytail. They locals are so friendly & it feel's like it has been untouched. There are a great selection of restaurants, bars & coffee shops & are really good value, the standard of food is exceptionally high. We found ourselves going up for coffee or a glass of local wine, sitting in the piazza (the square) for hours watching the slow pace of Montone passing us by. We just fell in love with the village, with its traditions & enchanting streets, it really is an escape from reality & our fast paced life, you just had to relax!! The owners Aine and Fabio were so helpful & friendly, there was nothing they wouldn't do to make our stay special. Their door was always open & happy to share a glass of wine!! Casa delle Grazie is so beautiful, we hope to return year after year. It will always have a special place in our hearts, with the most amazing memories. Thank you Aine & Fabio for a fantastic holiday
