Montmorillon is known as City of the Writing and the Trades of the Book , as much by the variety of its booksellers and secondhand booksellers that by the presence of many craftsmen: bookbinders, illuminators, calligraphers and paper makers. The town is a delightful medieval town with lots of restaurants, cafes, a market and plenty of activities for adults and children. There a 12th century church, Octagon and Monastry and the world famous Macaroon Museum. The old towns of Bellac, Le Dorat, Chauvigny and Le Blanc are all near, with lots to explore and discover.
Futurscope The main tourist attraction of the area, Futuroscope, on the outskirts of Poitiers, offers a fascinating day out for all the family with over 20 attractions including 3D cinema, simulators, surround screens and 180º screens, water screens plus interactive games, shows, events and exclusive exhibitions. There is a fantastic firework display shown at the end of the day (usually around 9.00pm).

Water sports There are water-skiing, sailing and wind-surfing centres on the Vienne at Isle Jourdain and at the Centre de Plein Air on Lac de Chardes.

There are also a number of well-stocked fishing ponds. A variety of inexpensive fishing licences are available from the tackle shop in Montmorillon.
