Farmhouse | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 9
The location of Casa Quintino is blissful, either by day, sitting with a glass of cool white wine on the verandah with the hills stretching away to the ancient Etruscan capital of Volterra, or in the evening watching the moon rise behind the line of cypresses on the skyline, the dark valley below sparkling with fireflies. Backed by hillsides of forest, in hidden corner of Tuscany undisturbed by any man-made sounds, whilst deer, wild boar and porcupines are regular visitors, and nightingales and African hopoes fill the air.
Casa Quintino is a 4 bedroom stone farmhouse that has been carefully restored into two apartments sleeping 11 in total, including all modern conveniences, whilst retaining its rustic character. It is not the usual tourist agritourismo but has a personalised homely feel, which never fails to appeal to those who want to get away from the crowds and sink deep into ancient Arcadia.

About this location
The Tuscany region
Florence, the source of the Renaissance has more famous art per square meter than anywhere else in Europe. The leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the wonders of the world, and Siena with the renowned horse race between the contrade for the Palio, is a unique medieval tournament, a riot of flag throwing and chivalry. San Gimignano is one of the most visited hill top towns in Italy is a Medieval Manhatton with its stone towers with its picturesque alleyways. Less well known, but equally dramatic, the hill top town of Volterra was the ancient capital of the Etruscans, a town that was civilized 2000 years before Rome was founded, and boasts one of the best Roman amphitheatres as well as the main Museum for Etruscan period.
Summer Jazz and Theatre Festival in Volterra, Medieval Festival the last two weekends in August when the whole town goes back to 1384, and the streets are alive with medieval stalls selling home made produce, ancients skills on display, pageantry and competitions such as archery, jousting, and flag throwing.
