About the home

Le Petit Galminou is charming chocolate box pictresqe studio gite whith separate shower and toilet facilities and is suitable for up to a family of 4. It is available all year round. It has an open fire place with a woodburner and it has original oak beams. The property is fitted with some eco-friendly facilities such as a rainwater harvester, eco friendly insulation, recycling facilities and low energy light bulbs. We also provide some eco friendly house products.

The studio is comfortable and has all the requirements to make your stay as comfortable as possible. There are amazing views, a large attractive garden with a swimming pool. The outstanding views overlooking the Vezere Valley are the background of the al fresco eating area which also has a barbecue.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

Montignac is a very popular holiday location, situated in the midst of the beautiful Dordogne. During the summer the streets come alive with the many musical and dance festivals that take place. The famous lascaux Caves are situated just outside the town. The Roc St Christoph and the Maison de Forte just 15 mins drive.

The surrounding area provides historic and the best prehistoric sites in the world, beautiful chateau's and gardens.

The medieval town of Sarlat is just 25Km away and the Saturday market there is not to be missed. Local markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays selling local and traditional produce.

The Montignac area

Montignac has many restaurants and cafe's on and overlooking the beautiful river Le Vezere, offering wonderful traditional and local cuisine.

Fishing,canoeing, golfing, adventure and beach parks for the kids. Whatever your interests there is something for everybody.

An amusement park is located nearby and will enchant the children. There are also plenty of historic sites, museums and local markets to visit.

Flybe and Ryanair both budget airlines operate to and from Bergerac Airport. Just over an hours drive to Montignac. Several car hire companies operate at Bergerac, with competitive rates.

“Comfortable, well equipped gite with fabulous views” The gite was even better than we expected and proved to be very comfortable and fully equipped for our 2 week stay. Diana was the perfect host and nothing was too much trouble. There are many places of interest within a short drive, we would particularly recommend the caves at Padirac and the memorial village of Oradour. However, the town of Montignac itself is very pleasant and worth exploring, particularly on Wednesday for the market, which takes over many of the streets. When you have done exploring, what better than relaxing in the gite's extensive gardens, with a good book and a glass of chilled rosé?
