Villa Mimosa is a charming renovated stone cottage facing southeast with views of the river, swimming pool and surrounding cornfields from the bedroom window. It is a comfortable villa which offers excellent value for money with 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 5 . Accommodation comprises:

* Bedroom 1 with one double bed
* Bedroom 2 with 3 single beds
* Bathroom with shower , wc and bath (ideal for families with very young children)
*Rustic inspired Kitchen /Dining Room with dining table and chairs for 5
* Sitting area with settee,table, TV and DVD player
* Private Patio with outdoor furniture, barbecue for al fresco dining
* Washing machine is available in the laundry room onsite
* internet access available

Our garden+orchard is dotted with various fruit trees that offer a welcome shade in the summer. We have a 10m x 4m swimming-pool (with fence and alarm for added safety). Sunloungers, deckchairs and parasols provide comfortable sitting around the pool area.

There is a huge courtyard with a large shaded patio where adults can just sit and relax and watch their children play safely. Here the children can play basketball, table tennis, tennis(against the wall), and boardgames. Another play area in the back garden contains a swing and climbing frame,football and badminton area .We have 14 acres of land so there is a lot of space for children to run around safely and for adults to find their own private space for relaxation.

We also have a larger villa ,Villa Hibiscus , that can accommodate 8 people as well as bed and breakfast requirements.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

The Dordogne region has a thousand castles and chateaux and hundreds of caves , the most famous being Lascaux, just 20 minutes from Le Four a Sel.
Being in the heart of the Black Perigord, you are within easy reach of numerous tourist sites : the Chateaux Losse or Puymartin,.the stunning Marqueyssac Gardens and the feudal fortress of Commarque. Sarlat, the most famous town of the region,and Brive are just a 30 minute drive away. All throughout the area, you will pass beautiful medieval towns and villages, and along the way ,the scenery is breathtaking.

April is already warm here . In May, and June the countryside is more lush and the scenery even more beautiful, since the daylight is slightly less harsh than in the summer, a perfect time for walking and cycling in the Dordogne .The weather is almost always warm and often as hot as high summer, although it is slightly more changeable .
Summer of course is typically hot: 30-35 degrees.

Montignac / Aubas area

Montignac is a charming village with beautiful stone and timbered houses, lots of cafes and restaurants in the towncentre or by the river and more just 30minutes away for excellent food with lively market on Wednesdays .It is just 15minutes from Lascaux caves.There is mini golf centre,tennis and outdoor swimming pool. You can go for a quiet stroll along the river and stop at one of the cafes or restaurants for an ice cream or a coffee or have a meal whilst watching people canoe leisurely down the river.
In late July, Montignac hosts a music and arts festival with street performers all throughout the town and then a wonderful fireworks display over the River Vezere on the last night.
There is also a small beach 20 minutes away.
There are lakes nearby for watersports(waterskiing, sailing ,swimming and fishing ).There is a waterpark ,just 45 minutes away with a huge lake , 2 waterslides, picnic benches ,2 children’s pools for younger children,a playground and a restaurant . Great for all ages and very good value for money for a day's entertainment . Around are several venues for horsebackriding.

How to get there

Le Four a Sel is located in the town of Aubas, 1hour 15 minutes(99k) from Bergerac Airport and Limoges Airport and 1 and a half hour from Bordeaux airport. Cheap flights are provided by

-Ryanair from Stansted, East Midlands and Liverpool
-Flybe from Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Leeds Bradford and Southampton
-Flybe from Bristol, Norwich and Southampton
-BMIBaby from Birmingham and Manchester.

Car hire is available at both airports and served by most major carhire companies. If you prefer to take the ferry, Calais is the nearest cross channel port and is about an 8 hour drive. If you go via the Paris Periphery , the car journey can be shortened by an hour.

Le Four a Sel is located just 2 km from Montignac and Lascaux caves. Surrounded by cornfields , meadows and set in 14 acres, you can dine al fresco with the view of the River Vezere on one side or enjoy the peace, quiet and tranquility amidst fig, walnut,apple and cherry trees in the orchard. It is strategically located for anyone wanting to discover and explore the beautiful Dordogne , giving you the option to do as much or as little as you want.
Fishing is available on site . Fishing licenses can be purchased in Montignac

There is a separate area in the premises for parking . It is so spacious we can even accommodate camper vans and /or trailers. We also provide renting facilities onsite for you to leave your trailer so you can travel to other parts of the region.

Further details

Rental is from Saturday-Saturday. However, we are flexible on rental dates outside of the high season (Jul/Aug) and can negotiate rates for dates and occupancy to suit your needs.

Short breaks(4 days) or long lets at special rates.

Conditions

25% deposit required upon booking. Payment of deposit in pounds can be accepted.Please enquire from owner for details.
A security deposit of 200 euros(£175) is required on arrival and will be returned no later than 2 weeks after departure. This can be given as a uk cheque which will not be cashed unless required.
Final payment of the balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival.
