Maison cachette
About the home
Spacious, beautifully presented villa, sitting in over an acre of private grounds. Fruit trees flourish in the peaceful garden - please help yourself to the fruit if it's in season. Very private pool with lovely views. The villa provides absolutely everything a family or group of friends would need for a fun packed or relaxing holiday. Shady terrace with large dining table for al fresco lunches and evening meals, overlooking the pool. Next to the outside dining area on the covered terrace overlooking the pool is a comfortable lounge suit (2 wicker sofas with comfy cushions and large chair), great for an evening aperitif, or a quiet read in the shade during the day with the overhead fans cooling. Large dining kitchen with home from home appliances, and an abundance of cutlery/crockery (we don't just have 6 of everything!). There is also a full size petanque court in the garden, where you can spend many hours of fun trying to perfect the art of throwing boules over gravel just like the locals ! Or for the more energetic - table tennis.
Being just a short walk away from the beautiful town of Montignac, a visit to the local market to stock up on local produce is a must - the bakeries are even open on a Sunday for fresh croissants and bread for breakfast. While away an afternoon sitting at one of the beautiful terraced cafes overlooking the Vezere river which flows through the centre of the village, or simply relax around the private pool on your own sun terrace overlooking the beautiful countryside. The important historic Lascaux caves are just a short drive away, as is Sarlat. Canoeing (great fun) is available in the village down to the beautiful village of St Leon, and horse riding and golf are accesible a short distance away. There is also mini-golf in the town, down by the river.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

The Dordogne region has hot, sunny summers, with mild winter days and chilly nights. The area is filled with hundreds of stunning chateaux, rolling hills, pretty villages, markets, restaurants and historical sites.
This area is also renowned for truffles, walnuts, duck, goose and foi gras.
Montignac is a pretty little town on the Vezere river, nestled between the mountains of the Massif Central in the Auvergne and the picturesque valleys of the Dordogne.
The region offers activities (or non-active!!) for everyone. Canoeing, golfing, cycling and walking; world renowned historic caves (Les Ezyies, Lascaux), - or simply just relax, enjoying scenery and market days - and a glass of French wine and local produce. The food in the area is fantastic, and so many different places to try.
The Montignac / Aubas area
On Wednesdays and Saturdays Montignac comes alive with it''s markets.
Canoe rental is available on the Vezere river in the centre of Montignac, and the nearest golf course is just a 30minute drive away, with a water park almost next door to the course. (Ideal if some of your group prefer swimming to golfing).
The Lascaux caves are very close by, and the Vezere Valley is filled with many other historical sites, particularly Les Ezyies and it's museums and the magnificent Roque St Christophe. Sarlat, with it's renowned Saturday market is a stunning town to visit - lots of history and beautiful buildings.
Tamnies, (20minute drive), is a lakeside beach with a beautiful circular lake walk. Heavenly to lunch at one of the lakeside picnic tables, or even the restaurant at the local hotel.
Vezere international festival of music during June, July and August.
Every July Montignac becomes a vibrant town with it's colourful festival of traditional folk music and dancing. It follows Aquitaine traditions that trace their roots back to before the Norman conquest. French village life at its best.
