Situated just 25 km from Sarlat-la-Caneda, this brand new residence with swimming pool is right by the world famous Lascaux caves and within walking distance of the charming village of Montignac with lots of cafes, restaurants and spectacular old houses. It is ideally placed for visiting this delightful region. The 3 star Residence LE HAMEAU DU MOULIN opened in July 2006 and was built like a small hamlet with small clusters of houses set around a central heated swimming pool providing a total of 110 units of accommodation. It is really close to the world famous Lascaux caves (reputedly one of the most visited sites in France) and only 600m from the centre of the village. The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
The village of Montignac is in the Perigord Noir, a region rich in prehistoric sites, not least the famous Lascaux caves. Four boys looking for a dog discovered the caves in 1940, and they opened to the public in 1948, quickly becoming one of France's major attractions and drawing 125,000 visitors annually. However, the hordes of tourists caused atmospheric changes in the caves, endangering the paintings. Scientists went to work to halt the deterioration, known as "the green sickness." Since then, the Lascaux cave, the “Sistine chapel of prehistoric art”‚ is closed to the general public to prevent deterioration, but the Lascaux II cave is an excellent replica, which gives you a clear picture of the remarkable works, with paintings of bison, horses and reindeer. The village of Montignac is built on both sides of the river Vezere. On the right bank is the feudal town with its narrow streets, its half-timbered houses from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, its old washing places and foutains made in limestone. On the left bank the village with its convent and its priory reminds us that formerly Montignac was a terminus river port and an important commercial place. Thanks to the great numbers of small rivers joining the Vezere, mills are also part of the landscape and are more than 60. The towns of Perigueux, Brive and Sarlat are only half an hour drive away. Périgueux the capital town of the Perigord and the cultural heart of the Dordogne, is an hospitable little town with a lively Wednesday and Saturday market, a veritable feast of restaurants and cafés, and a tranquil rural setting, so typical of the region. Medieval Sarlat itself is a maze of ancient and arcaded lanes, whose ochre stone buldings have now been declared a living museum. Among the notables are the Cathedrale St. Sacerdos and the Lanterne des Morts tower. The Saturday morning market in the Place de la Liberté is a must.
Montignac area
Cycling, rambling, pony trekking and canoeing make this area a fine choice for a family holiday. In Montignac the International Folk / Dance Festival is held annually in July. In addition there are many classical music recitals held nearby - notable at St. Leon- sur-Vezere and Saint-. Armand de Coly.
How to get there
Between Flybe and Ryanair, you can find UK departures to Bergerac (99k from Montignac) from most parts of the UK. Flybe offer flights from Birmingham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Leeds Bradford, Gatwick, Manchester and Southampton, whereas Ryanair offer East Midlands, Liverpool and Stansted. The airport is served by most major car hire companies. If you prefer to take it easy on the roads, St Malo is the nearest cross channel port and is about a 7 hour drive.

There is a living area with a sofa bed, a dining table and chairs and patio doors leading to a terrace or garden area. The kitchenette is equipped with a dishwasher, a micro-wave, electric rings , a fridge, a cooker hood, a sink and draining rack, cutlery and crockery. There is a bathroom with a bath and shower hose, a hand basin and a separate toilet. A garden table and chairs are provided. There is one bedroom for 2 people and a small 'cabin' bedroom, usually with bunk beds for 2 people.
Further details outdoors: The residence offers an heated swimming pool of 170 m², from 0.80 to 1.40m depth (open from 07/06/08-13/09/08), with a paddling pool and sunbathing around the pool. A free children's club will be available from 05/07/08-30/08/08 for children aged between 4 and 11 years old. There is a boules (pétanque) pitch. A large lounge with a terrace near the reception is at your disposal. There is a car park ing space for every unit. There are communal laundry facilities within the residence.

Towels can be hired from reception for 5.50 euros per kit (comprising 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel).You can hire a baby kit (including cot, high chair and baby bath) for 25 euros per stay. You can hire a TV 30-50 euros per week.
Conditions
A non refundable fee of 49 euros is payable on booking. Free booking fee for every 2 consecutive weeks booking in 2008. Many special offers available, please ask for more details. A 25% deposit is payable at the time of booking with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to your holiday. A 300 euros cleaning and security deposit is required on your arrival and will be refunded to you on your departure day or posted a week or so later, providing that you have left the property clean and without any damage, otherwise some money will be kept accordingly.
You may want to book for the final cleaning of your apartment and the cost is 52 euros.
A tourist tax of 0.40 euros per day and per person over 12 years old is payable on arrival(2006 prices).
