Take a walk to our village along an isolated road with spectacular views, for fresh baguettes and coffee. Laze by the pool with a book, take a stroll around our fields, enjoy evening meals al fresco to the sound of owls and the river with a bottle of fine local wine. Or have fun with the kids exploring the forest, wading along our river, having picnics on its banks or lounging in hammocks in the shade.
L'Atelier is suitable for four adults + two children. As the rooms are spacious and easily accommodate one extra single bed each, L'Atelier can also accommodate six adults. It has two bedrooms both with a double bed and ensuite bathroom. Both rooms will also accommodate cots or an extra single bed.
L'Atelier has a dining room with a fully equipped open plan kitchen/lounge at approx 40m2. Outside there is a private terrace of approx. 30 sq meters, from where you can hear the fountain. It has a picnic table for dining al fresco.
There is also another private outside space - a small walled garden with picnic table under beech trees.
We have three accommodation units (gîtes) which are all very private, separate from one another, totally self-contained and with their own outside spaces/terraces. L'Atelier is one of the three.

In the kitchen and dining room you will find a large artisan-made table, oak chairs and antique dresser. There are a sofa and chairs, seating for 4 or more.
Outside the Atelier has it's own terrace with seating for six and a BBQ. By its entrance there is also a small walled garden with seating.
Facilities for children are inclusive (cots, high chairs, baths etc).
|Further details outdoors|
The swimming pool is tastefully fenced with a child-proof gate. The swimming pool is only available from May to Sept.
The garden has a long chestnut fence that means children are completely safe. There is a hand-made chestnut and pine playhouse with table and chairs, a children's picnic table and a swing/climbing set. Games and toys are also available.
11 acres of grounds are accessible for walks and you are free to use the picnic tables in two of our fields as well as the swings.
We also have some resident animals - horses, donkeys (although these are kept well away from the accommodation in separate fields) cats, and koi carp in the garden fountain.
Pre-arrival: shortly prior to your holiday, a 'welcome booklet' will be emailed to you (with lots of information and tips about the area, house, things to do, restaurants etc), along with map of how to find us.
Food: we can do a first shop for you, and we can cater for you on your arrival evening (please request our menu in good time for your arrival if you would like food!).
The Languedoc-Roussillon region
We are situated in the southern-most region in France, with sunshine throughout the summer and winter, averaging over 300 days per year!
At the heart of this department - is Mount Canigou (muntanya regalada or 'fortunate mountain' in Catalan) - which dominates the horizon from almost every vantage point.
We are at the foot of Mount Canigou, the first Pyrenean mountain in the chain that stretches east to west along the south western border between France and Spain. We are only 30 miles from beautiful Mediterranean beaches and villages. We are also only a few minutes traffic-free drive from lovely Spanish market towns.
The area around Perpignan is the hottest part of France (and can reach between 35C and 40C in high summer). At 750m altitude, our climate is slightly cooler than that of the plains and environs around Perpignan. You will have warm days in a hot sun and yet night time temperatures which allow you to sleep comfortably with a sheet or light duvet!
So you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of our river, not air-conditioning!
Montferrer, our nearest village (at 1.5 miles away), is situated on the flanks of Mount Canigou and approximately 30 miles from Perpignan and the coast. You can actually see the coast from the village. It has a cafe/small shop where you can get your breakfast provisions as well as a few extras. It also has a lovely small, family-run restaurant.
There are many other beautiful small market towns like Ceret, Prats-de-Mollo, St Laurent de Cerdans, Camprodon (in Spain) and Besalu (also in Spain). We advise shopping in Prats-de-Mollo (16km) or Camprodon ... as the drive is beautiful and you are unlikely to see more than a handful of cars. Both have markets and good butchers, boulangeries as well as supermarkets etc.
Famous cities like Carcassone, Toulouse, Montpellier, Girona, and Barcelona are also within easy reach of the house for day trips. Barcelona can be reached within 2hrs 15mins.
Just outside Perpignan, on the Côte Vermeille (this part of the Mediterranean coast) you will find many long sandy beaches thronging with life in the summer, as well as secluded coves and picturesque bays that are quiet even in the tourist season.
