Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 3
‘L'Antica Magione’ is located in the south-west wing of the Castello di Saltemnano, which is a striking medieval building, whose origins trace back to 1050 A.D. It is surrounded by the rolling hills of the breathtaking Tuscan scenery and country paths bordered by cypresses and ancient oaks.
‘L’Antica magione’ has belonged for centuries to the noble Massari family and thanks to a careful restoration, preserves its ancient features, offering its visitors the charm of the ancient structure and modern comforts.
The building is made up of one apartment, 'Il Focolare', consisting of a double bedroom, kitchen-diner, private bathroom with shower, and equipped with independently controlled heating. The apartments is carefully furnished with original Tuscan pieces, a careful blend of noble past and local folk tradition.
'Il Focolare' finds its fulcrum and ows its name to the big fireplace which dominates the large, light and airy kitchen.
Clients can cook in the comfort of their own apartment or enjoy meals in the nearby restaurant ‘La Locanda del Castello’.

The Tuscany region
The historic centre of Siena has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site. It is one of the nation's most visited tourist attractions, with over 169,000 international arrivals in 2008. Siena is famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio.
A unique and amazing event , a mediaeval inheritance takes places in Siena two times: on 2nd July and 16th August: the Palio. Colours, crowd, celebratory shouts, ten horses ridden bareback in a race that lasts only a few seconds. For those who are seeing it for the first time, this is the Palio. For the Sienese it is life, passion, history. It’s the miracle of a game that becomes real life, where there is a place for joy and pain, courage and intrigue, loyalty and betrayal.
