About the home

The large apartment (116 sqm) is situated in the historical centre of Montepulciano. It is situated on the first floor of a historical building whose entrance opens onto the main street, a few steps from the most important archway (Porta al Prato) leading to the art town.

Inside the apartment the guests will appreciate its peaceful and warm atmosphere. The apartment is lighten by four wide windows overlooking the Val di Chiana and the beautiful hills where the ancient village of Montefollonico is located.

The apartment is tastefully furnished with vintage beds and wardrobes; the ancient technique of grid floors and the decorated plaster give the apartment a special charm.

The apartment is composed of a large sitting room with kitchenette, a twin bedded room, two large bedrooms with double beds and vintage furniture, two newly decorated bathrooms . The kitchen is equipped with dishes, pans, oven, fridge and freezer.

The Tuscany / Siena Province region

Visitors to Tuscany come for many reasons. Many come in search of fine art, others to explore the extraordinary countryside. Gourmets and wine buffs descend on Tuscany to enjoy the simple yet wonderful cuisine and wine. The strategic position of Montepulciano makes it an ideal starting point for wine and food tasting excursions plus visits to nearby places of historical and cultural interest such as Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana or even as far as Florence or Rome both easily reached in a few hours by Intercity trains

The Montepulciano area

Montepulciano, is built along a narrow limestone ridge and, at 605 m (1,950 ft) above sea level. The town is encircled by walls and fortifications designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder in 1511 for Cosimo I. Inside the walls the streets are crammed with Renaissance-style palazzi and churches, but the town is chiefly known for its good local Vino Nobile wines. a long, winding street called the Corso climbs up into the main square, which crowns the summit of the hill.

In July-August there is Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte, an arts festival created by the German composer Hans Werner Henze. In August there are two festivals: the Bruscello takes place on the 14th, 15th and 16th, when hordes of actors reenact scenes from the town's turbulent history. For the Bravio delle Botti, on the last Sunday in August, there is a parade through the streets followed by a barrel race and a banquet to end the day.

If you arrive from the South, by car, take the motorway A1 Firenze-Roma, then the exit Chiusi-Chianciano Terme and finally the SS 146.

If you arrive from the North, drive along the A1, then follow the exit sign to Valdichiana and then the SS 326. Those who leave from Siena towards Perugia, have to take the slip road Siena-Bettolle-Perugia.

By train: you arrive in Chiusi (Chianciano Terme) where, thanks to a bus line, you can reach Montepulciano.
