Home description

Very beautiful, away from it all, but only just! the Ardeche and Drome areas, situated either side of the Rhone Valley, are really beautiful and unspoilt holiday destinations. No crowded beaches, but fresh rivers for canoeing and swimming (lovely cool fresh water from the Alps and the Massif Central). This huge flat valley, surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges on both side is an ideal location for a family holiday. The Chateau itself is really lovely and the 63 acres of grounds include a forest, private 'mountain' with 100 mile views to the Alps in the East. Gorgeous weather May to September. Lots for the kids to do and easy access to many towns and vineyards up and down the Rhone Valley.

The Rhone / French Alps / Drome region

Mediterranean climate, hot and dry in summer. Lovely May to September. Peaceful and quite and yet within easy reach of everything - culture, history, wine, golf, caves, canoeing, river swimming, restaurants etc etc


Montelimar area

See Ardeche and Drome - lots and lots and easy to get to - from Lyon to Avignon. This is really a perfect base for a family holiday. There is lots to see and do - from day trips to Lyon (gastronomic centre of France!) and Avignon, local vineyards, canoeing, swimming in the rivers, climbing, caving or just relaxing in this 'little bit of paradise'. Outside concerts on Fridays in summer. And lots of space for the kids to run wild! As we have room for 6 families there are usually other kids fo rkids to meet, parents can join in or not as they wish!

These airports are within 75 minutes: Lyon, Grenoble, Nimes, St Etienne.
TGV fast rail - Valence
Motorway A7 exit J16 Loriol. 15 minutes westwards, direction Privas. Turn left at Chomerac towards St Bauzile. Chateau is first road on right.
