The Rhône-Alpes region

This is a beautiful unspoilt rural area with few tourists and no big hotels. The countryside is gentle and relaxing.

The climate is excellent, the nearby village of Dieulefit is reknowned for people recovering from chest and heart afflictions. Avignon (Pope's palace) and Orange (Roman theatre) are an hour's drive. The upland plateau of the Vercors is 40 minutes away and the Ardeche gorge about an hour.

In summer there are many concerts, art and pottery exhibitions and antique fairs in the surrounding villages.

The larger local rivers are generally accessible for canoeing and other water fun.

We are about 2 miles from a village of about 1000 people (including the surrounding area) There are about 12 shops including hairdressers, grocers, butchers, pottery, garage, café and bar.

The immediate area around us is fields and woods. The ancient village of Chateauneuf de Mazenc is on the adjacent hill. The nearest farm breeds horses.

There are many unspoilt villages around and no big hotels. It is ideal walking and cycling country. Many years the Tour de France passes close to the house.
