'Le Pigeonnier' is the ideal holiday setting to unwind and experience rural France at its best.
The house is situated on a hillside, with commanding views over rolling countryside to the distant Pyrenees mountains, set below the church of the hilltop hamlet of Montégut-Savès and just 5 minutes from the famous Gers market town of Samatan.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Gers region
The house is situated within easy reach of many fantastic places of interest.
Toulouse, 50 minutes away, known as the Ville Rose ("Pink City") for its distinctive brick architecture, is host to a rich and diverse culture and is now the fastest growing metropolitan area in Europe. The city radiates with a show of festivals, museums, theatres, restaurants and cafes and is also considered an epicentre for rugby union.
Lourdes has developed into a major place of Christian pilgrimage, following the apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes to Bernadette Soubirous in 1858, receiving visitors from all over the world. The spring water from the Grotto is believed by some to possess healing properties. Especially impressive are candlelight and sacrament processions. 2008 sees the 150th anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady.
Meanwhile Auch is known for its Renaissance Cathédrale Sainte-Marie with its magnificent organ, carved stalls and rose stained-glass windows, La Tour d'Armagnac (14th century prison), as well as a statue of d'Artagnan who was based on the real life person Charles de Batz (Comte d'Artagnan), born nearby in the château de Castelmore, and written about by Alexandre Dumas.

Montegut-Saves area
Le Pigeonnier is set below the church of the hilltop hamlet of Montégut-Savès, just 5 minutes from the famous Gers market town of Samatan. The market is open Monday mornings and the town is packed with market stalls selling everything from livestock to local produce, including its famous foie gras.
Experience our restaurants with local specialties, such as confit de canard (very slowly cooked, succulent duck) and cassoulet (tender pieces of duck and toulouse sausage cooked in a savoury lingot bean sauce), enhanced with the warmth of our regional wines such as Madiran, Fitou or Corbieres.
How to get there
'Le Pigeonnier' is conveniently located near to several airports (Toulouse 45 mins, Carcassonne 90 mins and Pau 90 mins).
Various carriers, including British Airways (London Gatwick), Easyjet (London Gatwick, Bristol), Flybe (Bristol, Birmingham) and Jet2 (Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Belfast) provide flights to Toulouse, and can often be found very cheaply. Ryanair also flies to Carcassonne.

Further details indoors: This Gers holiday accommodation offers every comfort in a beautifully appointed open plan setting, comprising central living and dining areas together with a fully equipped kitchen and mezzanine level sleeping gallery. The gallery features a double queen sized bed (please note height restriction on this floor is 1.6m).
A separate bathroom with shower is located on the ground floor, and there is a laundry room (main house). In terms of entertainment, a selection of DVDs/videos is available and guests can use the games room with table tennis/football table/darts etc in the main house.
Further details outdoors: French doors lead onto the terrace, facing east, catching the sunrise and overlooking the gardens to the swimming pool. The pool has a large “abri”, offering shade for dining at anytime of the day.

Rates are for FULL WEEKS, Saturday - Saturday, from 4pm on day of arrival and 10am on day of departure. It may be possible to accomodate mid-week bookings at short notice, dependant on availability.
The swimming pool is open from the end of April until mid October depending on weather.
For shorter stays (minimum 3 nights) and for bookings outside the dates shown, please enquire.
A deposit of 25% is required with the reservation, the balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival and a seperate returnable security damage deposit of £150 is required with the balance. This is to cover any damage to the property, pool, house or contents.
