The Belforti Tower is a unique 14th century country house at the top of Montecatini Val di Cecina, in the heart of Tuscany. Few kilometers away from the city of Volterra, the tower offers incredible views and enchanting atmospheres for marvellous vacations. Thought to be a temple of beauty, inside it's a gallery of italian modern design in a medieval context, outside it has a marvellous garden of cypress alleys and olive trees.

The Belforti Tower is a country house and we rent it out as a whole, so it's not possible to rent a single room. It's made up of five floors and a terrace and can host 4-6 people. It has two comfortable and large double bedrooms with king size beds and a beautiful livingroom with a double bed shielded by a separè. For babies under 3 years there is a crib, and for older kids there is an extra bed.

Every floor has it's own bathroom with the shower. The kitchen is large, fully equipped with the latest generation of electrical induction cooking stoves. In the living room there is big, stone fireplace.

Every floor has wireless internet connection, the kitchen has a television. For the music, there's a mini hi-fi with cd and Ipod/Iphone docking station and, in the living room, a record player with an enormous collection of classical long play records.

The Tuscany region

Montecatini is a small village with medieval origins located in the centre of the Tuscan region, situated very close to the antique Etruscan town of Volterra. The beaches are a 35 minute drive away and the most important cities of artistic interest are a one hour drive away (Siena, Pisa, Florenze, Lucca).

Montecatini is a perfect place to relax, enjoy the beauty, eat marvellous food and drink good wines. But there are many possibilities also for a more active kind of vacation.

During limpid and crisp days, from the higher windows of theTower, you can see a small patch of sea and the Isle of Elba. The closest beach, known as Cecina, is a 35 minute drive away. The coast here is quite vast and it possible to find fully equipped beaches towards the North; Marina di Cecina, Gorette and Mazzanta. While moving south from these areas you can find long stretches of sandy beaches, without the usual European style facilities but with great pinewood areas located opposite the water.

Montecatini Val di Cecina

Volterra, which is 15 km from Montecatini, is a very magical place: its elevation, allows a panoramic view in all directions, the yellow, soft earth, the shells imbedded in the road, a memory from its being a seabed, the splendid piazza, are only a few of the things to see during your visit to this sleepy jewel.

Montecatini is surrounded by many beautiful forest areas perfect for taking long walks, for exploring and for mushroom and asparagus picking. From Montecatini's piazza, you can walk towards the Monte alla Croce ( Mount to the Cross), which dominates the town.

You can find all you may need at Montecatini; a baker who makes some of the most famous bread and focaccia( white pizza bread) of the area, a clothes shop which attracts buyers from all over Tuscany for its high quality and low pricing policies, two coffee bars and a hardware store. All of these places are located in the central piazza, where you will also find at reasonable prices, a good quality restaurant and pizzeria. Not too far away from the mine area you can find two other restaurants. We highly recommend two exceptionally good restaurants “Il Frantoio” at Montescudaio, the “Trattoria Albana” of Mazzolla and the “Le Giunche” inn, between Casino di Terra and Casale Marittimo.

"Unique and awesome experience!"

The Torre di Belforti is a very unique and special holiday rental in a
less traveled, quiet and beautiful part of Tuscany. The Belforti Tower
stands high over an authentic medieval castle complex where real
people live a very simple Tuscan lifestyle. You will be transported
back to the 14th century and experience living like a feudal ruler
high up in the tower protecting the people below, yet still so much a
part of this ancient community. The tower is perfectly restored to
original design, very quiet, clean and beautiful. The kitchen and
bedrooms are large and private. Each level of the tower is separated
by ancient stairways. The bathrooms are lined in a soft dark luxurious
stone, and the kitchen is fit with a working fireplace. There is a
lookout on the roof for watching the clear Tuscan sky with a
spectacular view of the surrounding 'kingdom' below. A pleasant olive
grove surrounds the tower where you can rest and have quiet
conversation. We very much enjoyed our stay here. The people of
Montecatini are very welcoming! The piazza restaurant has exceptional
cuisine. You can sit and converse the night away! The
cafe/bar is an easy going place to chat with new friends. We could
have stayed here a month making new friends and resting up from
sightseeing Italy!! A great stay for writers and dreamers where time
is yours forever!
The best part of all is Luca, the owner. He is the most graceous and
generous person. He will delight your soul. To know Luca is to find
the true meaning and spirit of Italy. Come and meet him, and you will
fall in love with him!

"Lovely Place to Stay"

The Belforti Tower is a beautiful place to stay, it feels like being in one's own fairy tale. The tower is surrounded by olive and fruit trees and sits in the midst of a charming village. The owner is extremely kind and useful, he went above and beyond in making sure we enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this place as a wonderfully relaxing vacation and also a great way to have a more authentic experience in Italy.
