About this location
The Umbria region
The medieval town of Todi is 10 to 15 min by car and is a stunning hilltop town with great architecture, restaurants and bars. Perugia is about 30 minutes away and is the local “capital”. A really beautiful town with lots of interesting features: National Gallery of Umbria, the National Museum of Umbrian Archaeology, Cathedral Museum, Etruscan remains of the walls (4-2 century BC.), gothic church of Sant Ercolano '(13 - early 14th cc ..), one of the most prestigious jazz festivals in Europe, and of course the place where the Perugino candy is produced.
Orvieto is 45 kilometers (35 minutes by car) away. The wonderful Duomo of Orvieto is the main 'must-see' sight in this town. Constructed in the 13th and 14th centuries, the black and white striped building in mixed Romanesque and Gothic styles, is one of the world's greatest cathedrals. The piece-de-resistance is inside, the frescoes of Luca Signorelli on the theme of the Last Judgment inside the Capella di San Brizio.
Monte Castello di Vibio
The villa is situated on a hill with great view of the valley below and about 3 km from the village of Fratta Todina which has a pharmacy, ATM, small supermarket and bar etc. Fratta Todina is the access point for the road that leads to the house. Montecastello di Vibio is a very characteristic town very close to the house and it boasts the smallest theatre in the world http://www.teatropiccolo.it/weekendinumbria , an international art school and fantastic views – from the top you can see Todi and Perugia, just a little beyond is Assisi. In the immediate area around the house there are a lot of wine producers you can buy great wine directly from, Spa's and massages etc
