The Tuscany region
Tuscany is one of the most famous regions in Italy.
It is worldwide well known for art cities, landscapes, food and wines. Pisa is one of the most popular art cities, but its province is mostly yet to discover. It offers both crowded beaches and silent hills, night life and country relax.
Csatelnuovo Val di Cecina is a medieval village that saw its maximum growth during 19th century with borax industry. It is inside a very active geotermic area, from which at moment the national electric company produce 2% of national power production.
In Larderello, a village next to Castelnuovo, there is the Museum of Geothermy. The population of the area is very active, so many Festivals are organized from spring to late autumn.

"We had not dared to dream it so perfect..."
Chiara was a wonderful host. Her property is renovated and decorated both functionally and with an excellent taste of italian style. The environment is wonderful: 360° of unspoiled Tuscany landscape. We also appreciated her endeavour to run the place with a minimal ecological impact. The natural swimming pool is a wonderful proof of this. For those who are sensitive: musquito repellent is essential.

"Nice and remote place"
We stayed there for a week with our 2 boys, the apartment is nicely renovated, spacous, you got everything you need to prepare a simple meal, though things like salt and oil you need to bring yourself with. There are several apartments in the house, the one we stayed is also nicely equipped for weelchaired people. The place is on the top of the hill, restaurant on the house opens from Thurs to Saturday, when it's open, most of the time is full, even the locals come to eat, good taste with very reasonable prices, beautiful location to watch the sunset. It's about 60 km to Siena, 80 km to Pisa, you need to drive about 30 km on the wanding mountain road to reach the highway. The bonus point for the remotness is always within 10-15 km, there are nice little castle villages on the hill top, beautiful and undisturbed. It would be nice if there are mosquito screens installed on the windows, we were really troubled by the mosquito the very first night, after we bought the mosquito incense and burning them by the windows, we were able to leave them out of the apartment. The other thing not so satisfactory was either the water to flush toilet is from reused water or the drainage system is not functioning so well, the toilet always smells fishy. There is no self-service washing machine avaialbe on the house, you can give the washings to the owner and have it nicely folded back in couple of days, it's not so convenient, but otherwise this hospitality service is not very often to be found in Europe. My 5-years old enjoyed the nature pool all the time, most of the guests were there with family and children, young ones made friends fast, it' nice to see the children playing together. Overall, we enjoyed this place very much.

"Perfect Holiday in Tuscany"
We have just returned from a weeks holiday staying at Fattoria San Paolo. As my wife has impaired mobility we chose "Trentuschi" apartment which was perfect for our needs. Chiara (pronounced Kiara) and her family were perfect hosts for example Chiara produced a way for us to reach the centre of Siena with minimal walking. The apartment was clean and very well presented. The only slight criticism is the fact that with only a microwave and two hot plates and not being used to ready meals, cooking was a challenge. However we ate in Chiara and Carlo`s Piza Resturant on one night with superb views over the Tuscan countryside and a couple of local restruants at other times. We strongly recommend this apartment for anybody who wants the peace and quite of the countryside and the company of a delightful Italian family.

"Terrific Tuscan retreat"
Chiara and Carlo were fabulous hosts. We arrived late and they still managed to make a nice dinner for us. We had the apartment that was set up for handicapped people - it seemed like it would be perfect for someone in a wheel chair. We were really comfortable and enjoyed cooking for ourselves on the days that Chiara and Carlo weren't running their restaurant. We enjoyed the bio pool though it takes a bit getting used to as you swim with frogs and newts and a bit of algae. But we likened it to swimming in a the "ol' swimin' hole" and had a good time. Chiara had good advice on what to do in the area including going to an outdoor classical concert in the nearby hilltop village. We used a a gps to find that village and then used Chiara's directions to find the apartment. Beware that one road is out due to an unsafe bridge which resulted in our taking a bit of a detour when returning from one of our day's adventures. The internet was very helpful and worked well. We visited Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano and other spots quite easily from this property near Montecastelli Pisano. A car and GPS are essential in my opinion. There is a COOP store in one of the nearby towns to stock up on supplies. We'd love to come back and recommend this rental without hesitation.
