About the home

Casa Fiore/Borgo le Vigne is a gable end-house, part of a former farmhouse winery, in a favoured area 15 mins from Lucca, 40 mins Florence. Just 4 mins from the small medieval town of Montecarlo. It is suitable for all ages - ideal for couples, friends or a family. The shuttered front doors lead to an open plan airy room (in the Tuscan style: incorporating stylish dining area, living area and kitchen area with cotto tiled floors and wooden floors upstairs. Just refurbished and furnished with comfortable leather sofas and wrought iron beds. It is in the centre of a famous wine and olive oil producing area and on the famous Strada del Vino wine route, winding through country lanes. Pleasant drives around the property and fine walking areas. Formal and informal restaurants are plentiful - within a few minutes. Italian grocers and supermarkets nearby. Excellent access to tourist destinations and pleasant day trips. Stunning views from garden over vineyards, hills & mountains. Well equipped shared pool and gardens. Casa Fiore's French windows lead to a pretty Garden to sit & sip a glass of Montecarlo wine - delightful!

High shaped ceilings with fans above L-shaped sofa and in bedrooms - shuttered windows and exterior doors. Each bedroom has a shower room with shuttered windows, both very well equipped with plenty of room for toiletries, wooden bench for seating and extra storage, 3 towel rails, beautiful mirrors with spotlights. The bedrooms have comfortable beds with cool white cotton bedding and extra white cosy blankets & duvet bedspreads for winter stays (central heating/double glazing). The kitchen area is well equipped with plenty of crockery and cooking utensils for Tuscan feasts - supermarkets only 5 minutes away and full of luscious food. Local food shops and many restaurants and trattorias in and around Montecarlo. Casa Fiore has everything the owners could think of to make your stay enjoyable. Everywhere has just been painted and renovated and is sparkling again for the 2010 season.

Borgo le Vigne is on a small hilltop with gardens and a lovely well maintained swimming pool with far reaching views to the hills and mountains - with another view over farmland to nearby Montecarlo - both views can be seen from the bedroom windows. Casa Fiore's own Garden has a circular table, chairs and large umbrella from which the views - especially sunsets, are beautiful and much appreciated with a glass of Montecarlo wine (from one of the many vineyards or by walking to the farmhouse opposite). Cars are parked away by the automatic gated entrance - so it is very pleasant to walk around with pretty shrubs and trees. Lots to do but pleasant and relaxing on lazy days or after a busy day sightseeing! Our guests have loved staying at Casa Fiore and many have stayed 3 or 4 times and recommended their friends. Some stay at our other property Casa Lucia (8338) for a change - or a week at each (there's lots of flexibility).

Further details

As with most of Tuscany, Swimming pool is usually open 15 May to 15 October - irrespective of the weather (but guests have swam in the sea in late October!). Please bring pool/beach towels - all other linen supplied. Prices are fully inclusive (£50 pw allowed towards central heating charges) and include a welcome basket, friendly housekeeper welcome visit and emergency contact, cleaning before and after the holiday (and a mid clean for 2 week holidays). Soaps for wash basins/dishwasher/washing machine. Cleaning materials. Hairdryer/iron & small board.

Conditions

A £250 refundable damage deposit is required, returned promptly on confirmation no damage (the odd glass or two ignored!). Complete details on request and clearly stated in Letting Terms.
Suitable for families, couples and friends. Suitable for small children but parents responsible for their safety especially in and around the pool area. Lovely travel cot and cool bedding available on request. Sorry strictly no animals or smoking. Casa Fiore is an end-house - with stairs leading to two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Guests have stayed from ages ranging 3 months to sprightly 92 year olds.

The Tuscany / Lucca Province region

It is impossible to describe Tuscany - it is just wonderful - if you have not visited before, you can look forward to an interesting holiday. If you have been before you will know that the only problem is that nowhere else is ever the same. We have many returning guests (staying at Casa Fiore - or our other property Casa Lucia see property 8338). There are so many places of interest - and a great variety to appeal to everyone.
From Casa Fiore FLORENCE is a 40 minute drive (or 25 from train station - then 5 minutes walk to historic centre), THE COAST (beach) is only 40 minutes with lots of resorts (sandy beaches), SAN GIMIGNANO, MONTECATINI, PRATO, PISA less than an hour. SIENA, CHIANTISHIRE, VOLTERRA, BAGNI DI LUCCA & BARGA an hour or so - or CINQUE TERRE - take the scenic route or nearby superstrada.
We are happy to recommend days out depending on your interests.

The Montecarlo area

MONTECARLO is only 4 minutes from Casa Fiore - it has a little castle which often has activities; there is an annual Wine Festival lasting two weeks and other attractions eg Chocolate Festival. Interesting little shops, cafe/bars, enotecas, restaurants & pizzerias. The local restaurants are superb and reasonably priced. Pleasant driving around to famous houses/gardens and a Wine Trail. Montecarlo is in an area noted for its mild winters - it is protected by the surrounding hills and mountains. Often when the mountains that can be seen from the house (& less than an hour away) are snow-topped - there is sunshine locally! Unusual things to do - there's a furnicular railway at Montecatini to Montecatini Alto which is good for lunch. Thermal pools to visit nearby - one good for children - we have the details - there's also a famous chocolate shop. There are caves just beyond Barga.

LUCCA is just 15 minutes from Casa Fiore - mostly pedestrianised - elegant shops and sightseeing, bicycle rides around the wall. Twice weekly markets and lots of restaurants and outside cafe/bars. Lucca often has festivals, especially in the summer months.

If Casa Fiore is already booked for your preferred dates - try our other Tuscan property Casa Lucia, property no 8338 - Here we have 1 week in July/the last week in August & 1st week in September still available. All prices include: Welcome Basket, Welcome Visit & emergency contact, clean before & after stay, all linen with weekly change and mid-clean clean for 2 week holidays. £50 allowed for any central heating: any remainder taken from damage deposit; all other utilities included. All seasons are pleasant in Tuscany. For the autumn/winter period central heating/duvet bedspreads - relaxing walks, reading, music, fine restaurants, easy sightseeing; Florence (by train); theatre and best hot chocolate in Lucca; visit smaller Italian cities/towns. Stay for a longer time in the winter period. For central heating, we contribute £50 towards central heating and deduct from deposit thereafter (but heating is very efficient).

The holding deposit is 20%. There is a £250 returnable damage deposit payable with balance.

We can suggest special arrangements for the Festive Season - please ask for details. Please also ask for any advice re booking: we often have flexibility. We are also happy to assist with any aspect of planning your holiday - help with car hire for instance.

We had 2010 bookings from all over Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, Canada and the US - and all very welcome. March guests from Norway who visited Lucca, Cinque Terre, Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Florence & Montecatini Alto said "We enjoyed staying at Casa Fiore.
