About the home

Villa Belinda is a romantic and welcoming two-story villa surrounded by meadows and by green hills. It sleeps eight people. From Villa Belinda you will enjoy an enchanting view of the Tuscan hills. Villa Belinda is 200 square meters (2150 square feet). It features a private swimming pool, a private garden and winter heating.

You will be roughly 1.5 km (one mile) from the center of Monte San Savino, where you will find restaurants and the shops. You will reach Villa Belinda from the parking area along a short walkway that is flat and has no stairway steps.

To stay at Villa Belinda you will need a car. You will be able to park it free of charge on the premises.

The Tuscany / Arezzo Province region

Located in the heart of Italy, Tuscany is surely one of the most famous Italian landscapes. The essence of this beautiful region are its natural, artistic, and cultural heritage.

Bounded by the Ligurian and the Tyrrhenian Sea (two arms of Mediterranean), this region is divided into ten provinces, whose capitals are Arezzo, Florence, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. Florence is the capital city of the region itself.

Spring and fall are the best times to visit Tuscany, because the climate is mild. Bus-lines and trains connect the larger towns, but having a car would be a great advantage, and you would be easily able to enjoy the small towns and vineyards, which represent some of Tuscany’s strong points.

The “Chiantigiana road” is a must to see: it produces some of Italy’s finest wines. This is the colourful and legendary road of the “Chianti" region. The grape cultivation dates back to the Etruscan times. One of the biggest pleasures will be sipping different wines, at the wineries or at the wine bars scattered in the towns.

What about a drop in on “Mugello”? It is a countryside surrounded by oaks, chestnut trees and by the Apennines, This land of artists and painters have been source of inspiration in its farmhouses and colours. with kind people, authentic cooking, good wine, plus a great tradition in handicrafts.

Versilia is an area of 20 km sandy beaches located in the north of the region. The seaside with the colourful bathing areas is rich in bars and meeting places. Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Massarosa, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Stazzema and Viareggio are the towns of this beautiful coast.

The Monte San Savino area

An inhabited hamlet since the Etruscan period, Monte San Savino was developed in the Roman period around a castle called Area Alta. In the XIII centuries it was under the dominion of the Ubertini, lords of Arezzo. The decision by the town council to side with the Guelph supported by Florence, cost them the total demolition of the castle wall.

In 1337 the Monte was newly populated and subdued by Perugia, Siena and Florence, until 1550 when Cosimo de Medici, Duke of Tuscany conceeded it to Baldovino del Monte the feudal town of Monte San Savino, giving to it the title of county, notwithstanding its full autonomous jurisdiction. After some episodes under the Orsini, the Medici and the Della Rovere, the Town Council returned to the direct grand-ducal dominion.

The hamlet, home town of the notable sculptor and architect Andrea Sansovino presents to the visitor all its austere and elegant beauty. To draw back the curtain, the majestic Porta Fiorentina, work of Nanni of Baccio Bigio from a project by Vasari (XVI century). The spectacular, Cassero, econstructed by the people of Siena in 1383 and successively passed to the Florentines on which they appended their unmistakable Florentine iris.

Restructured in the 70s it is today the seat of the Museo Comunale (Municipal Museum). At its side, the Chiesa di S.Chiara (1652), where the interior preserves valuable works of Sansovino and of the tardo-robbiana school.

On one side of the piazza in front of and towering above is a proud guglia (spire) (1643), whereas on the opposite side, there is Palazzo Galletti which is presented in all of its austere simplicity. Of a Renaissance style, work of Antonio Da Sangallo del Vecchio, the Palazzo Comunale, in pietra serena and ashlar work on the ground floor and of Ionian order on the first floor.

The internal courtyard with an open gallery and three arches present two characteristic wells: The palazzo preserves on the inside precious works and a gallery of potraits of celebrated families. The Loggia dei Mercanti is very beautiful and attributed to Sansovino.
