DID YOU KNOW...
In 2013, British author, Oscar Reynard, used Manoir Les Gaillardoux as a retreat to finish his book “A Clean Pair of Hands” - “A gripping family saga set mainly in France and loaded with plots, thrills and intrigues, A Clean Pair of Hands encapsulates topical revelations about how France is dealing with social change and its inheritance of political corruption.”
IMAGIN YOURSELF ARRIVING AT MANOIR LES GAILLARDOUX...
You find a stone-built 17th/18th Century Manoir with tall windows, tiled floors, large fireplaces and wooden beams, set in its own secluded and private 1.25 hectares of park and orchard in sunny rural SW France: Welcome to Manoir Les Gaillardoux in the heart of the Quercy Blanc! Come and enjoy its salt water heated swimming pool, the comfort of its 6 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, the cool space of its 3 lounges and the charm of dining under the stars on its spacious elevated terrace... or by a log fire in the spacious dining room. Everything is ready to welcome you. If you have opted for these services, your shopping is in the fridge, a meal is ready and waiting...
Can you already feel the warm breeze under the trees, the singing of the birds and the buzzing of the bees in the lavender? Time for a cool drink? The American fridge-freezer will dispense cool water or ice cubes just when you want them. Fancy an easy grill? The large Australian BBQ awaits you on the terrace. Don the big apron and show your mastery! The local butcher and the farms around supply excellent meat and poultry, the street markets abound with fresh produce and local delicacies. After all, you are in a gastronomic heaven and the kingdom of Malbec wines!
Or, if you prefer, we can arrange for a cook or a Chef to come and bring the local gastronomy to your table... A festive end to a happy day... Even if our generously equipped kitchen is of gourmet cook standard, you are on holiday!
Don't worry about the washing up: there is a double dishwasher in the kitchen and we can also provide housekeeping help. Just come and relax!
Coming early in the season and dreaming of a log fire? Just look at our spacious dining room and the log piles outside the door: nothing easier than creating a cosy atmosphere, with candles on the long walnut refectory-style table and matching sideboard, and dimmed lights under the beams. A little music from the Bose music centre too, perhaps? Create your favourite ambiance...
And when dinner is over, how about a game of billiards? Or a stroll in the park listening to the nightingales?

The Midi-Pyrénées region
Discover Midi-Pyrenees and particularly the Lot region ...
The scenic Causses du Quercy Blanc are an elevated limestone plateau with extended views over a rolling hilly and wooded landscape. The area enjoys a sunny, dry climate with mild spring and autumn weather yet relief from extreme summer heat, making it possible to live outdoors for a large part of the year.
The Quercy region is sparsely populated and is well-known for its picturesque medieval villages, many of which have shops, cafés, restaurants and traditional street markets. You will find much to delight you in the local delicacies, such as the rare black truffle and the goose and duck “foies gras” which can be enjoyed at a number of restaurants for all occasions within easy reach of the Manoir. The Lot is also well known for the “black wines” of Cahors. Most of the local chateaux and vineyards welcome visitors for guided tours and wine tasting.
We can help you organise Gastronomic and Wine Discovery Programmes to suit your taste.
The area around Manoir Les Gaillardoux is a lively centre of cultural and sports activities based around its rivers, pre-historic caves, gastronomy, vineyards, villages and history.
It boasts a rich architectural heritage and a wide range of cultural activities: spectacular cliff-top fortresses and historical remains; at Cahors, Pont Valentré, the magnificent medieval bridge, and the 11thC cathedral; the stunning 15thC Chateau de Cieurac near Lalbenque, and the medieval village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie to name but a few, all of which are less than a half hour drive from the Manoir. The limestone geology throughout Périgord and Quercy has resulted in series of caves with stunning pre-historical cave paintings which are open to the public.
With spectacular sculptured rocky landscapes, the wide river valley of the Lot and smaller rivers like the shallow Célé attract water sports lovers for boat hire, fishing, canoeing, swimming and picnicking. The area also provides opportunities for cycling, walking, caving and golf, as well as adrenaline-raising activities such as Go-karting, sightseeing flights, parachuting and gliding at the nearby Aerodrome of Lalbenque. Tennis courts are 3 and 8 kms away. You will run out of time, long before you run out of things to do and see!!!

"Spacious manoir in French countryside"
We spent a wonderful week in the Manoir which was spacious enough to accommodate our large group of 11. There was something for the older and younger members of our party. A splash in the pool or just a game of petanque on the gravel. The Manoir is tastefully restored and decorated. There are plenty activities to choose from. As the villa is close to Cahors, shopping trips are within reach. The Manoir is also close to some vineyards which are worth the visit; driving back to London with some extra wine cases proved to be more challenging than expected. We also enjoyed the picturesque villages in the area. Breakfast and dinner outside on the patio were a pure treat. Thank you again for making our stay memorable. U. family, UK (Summer 2012)
The pleasure is shared. Compliments from our discerning guests are always gratifying. Thank you for expressing yours so warmly. Holidays are often the stuff that dreams are made of. We aim to to help our guests make them a reality!

"The Perfect Place to Relax"
The Manoir was the perfect place for our summer holiday. We were a group of 3 families with children ranging from 20 months to 8 years old. We loved the peaceful and picturesque location and it was lovely to allow the children to play and roam around the beautiful property. The views from the property are stunning and we enjoyed many meals outside on the patio just taking in the gorgeous countryside and slow sunsets. The Manoir itself is very spacious and comfortable. We all slept very well and also enjoyed cooking in the well provisioned kitchen. Our days were spent either exploring the surrounding area or in the pool. Some of us also went skydiving one day at the local aerodrome which was fantastic and so close by! I would definitely recommend the property and hope we get the chance to visit again.
From the Quercy Blanc to Bermuda with love: we are delighted you enjoyed our little corner of France and the comfort of our manoir, and we look forward to welcoming you and your delightful guests again!

"Five star accommodation in a five star location"
The accommodation was superb and the Manoir furnished to a very high standard, with all the bedrooms having en suite facilities. A perfect location for several people who want to enjoy a holiday together but, at the same time maintain their own space. The Manoir is enormous with many places to relax, read or just be on your own for a while. Situated in a perfect location surrounded by beautiful countryside, with Cahors only a short drive away. Plenty of great restaurants and wine tasting, if you desire. We are mostly at the Manoir as the excellent cooking facilities there made the catering so easy and so relaxing. We hope to return there again soon.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are delighted you enjoyed our Manoir, and look forward to welcoming you again soon. This is typical of the reviews we get for Manoir Les Gaillardoux. Our guests love the peaceful yet stunning countryside of the Lot (Midi-Pyrenees), the atmosphere of the local villages and the delicious food of the nearby restaurants. Combined with the style and 5 star comfort of our Manoir, with its heated swimming pool and sunny terrace with wide open views, most say that it is a luxury holiday that is hard to beat.
