Traditional French Farmhouse, located in a quiet hamlet of only 8 houses, in the Quercy Blanc region of France, and only moments to the Cahors Malbec wine route. The farmhouse has a private pool with a beautiful signature walk-out terrace the length of the property, and set on 3 acres of gardens and woodland.

Sleeps 8/10. 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom beautiful character farmhouse with private pool. Air-conditioning. Satellite TV. Set on 3 acres of land.

The terrace has a barbecue, large oak dining table and an area to sit and relax and read a book in the shade on a hot summer's day.

The nearest golf course 14km south of Montcuq.

8km to the lovely market town of Montcuq with fabulous and huge Sunday market. 6km to Montaigu de Quercy with a supermarket, baker, butcher, restaurants and Saturday market.

Brand new kitchen for summer 2011, to include two integrated ovens (one is a combined convection oven and microwave), integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric hob, Moulinex filter coffee machine and breakfast bar.

We have a separate utility room that includes a good quality 8kg washing machine and tumble dryer.

Our lounge has two comfortable leather sofas and armchairs with feature log-burner and stone wall.

We have a TV with satellite showing many UK channels such as freeview, news and movies. We also have a DVD player and Ipod docking station.

Please note that bedroom 5 has a separate entrance from the remainder of the house, and is a self-contained unit ideal for older children or guests wishing more privacy. This unit was formerly the Cave of the farmhouse and has a charming stone interior.

There is a large 30m walk-out dining terrace accessible directly from the kitchen on the upper level of the property and overlooks the gardens and private swimming pool. The terrace features a Weber charcoal BBQ, a large oak dining table and an area to sit and relax and read a book in the shade on a hot summer's day.

Our swimming pool is 8m x 4m and 8 padded sunloungers are provided.

The gardens are themselves quite secluded and the pool is therefore very safe and private.

The property can accommodate 10 but is most comfortable for a party of 8 plus infant.

Please note that the rental price includes an end of stay clean and your linens (including pool and bath towels), for a maximum of 8 people.

About this location

The Midi-Pyrénées region

Paillas is situated in Valprionde, in the department of Lot adjacent to the Lot et Garonne and Tarn et Garonne. Due to Paillas' location at an intersection of three departments, the villa is central to everything this wonderful region has to offer.

Set within the beautiful Quercy blanc, there is easy access to the many tourist sites of The Lot, Dordogne, Tarn et Garonne and Aveyron valley. A feature of the Quercy region is that it enjoys a more mediteranean climate than the Dordogne and the northern Lot regions. The area has a beautiful and varied landscape ranging from forested hills and valleys to dramatic river cliffs and rolling farmland. It is known for its châteaux, fortified churches, its pre-historic caves and dozens of white limestone mediaeval villages and towns.

The region is characterised by the abundant white stone and the pigeonniers dotted across the landscape. Throughout the Lot and Quercy region there are simply hundreds of charming stone built villages, often perching on a hilltop with magnificent views of the surrounding area. Each village has its own individual character and was typically built around an ancient church with a village square. The area is also famous for its local produce which is in evidence at the local markets of Montaigu du Quercy and Montcuq.

Outdoor activitiies in the area include boating, watersports, swimming, golf, and mountain biking. The Parc Naturel Regional des Causses covers a large proportion of the department.

Paillas is located near the Cahors wine route and the world-class Malbec vineyards of Cahors and surrounding region including Vive-sur-Lot and Puy L'eveque. Malbec, known as the "Black wine" is centered around Cahors AOC and in Argentina and since 2000 has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity for its fruity and spicy flavour.

Montcuq, with a supermarket, baker, butcher, restaurants and huge Sunday market - 8km.

Lauzerte, which has the label of "Plus Beaux Village" - 12km.

- The Cahors Malbec wine route - 5km from the start of the vinyards, and 12km to the large Chateau Chambert vineyard, as featured recently in Jamie Oliver's television series "Jamie Does.. the Midi Pyrenees".
