The Midi-Pyrenees region

This is a beautiful region with plenty of things to see and do when you want go out and about, and the Midi Pyrenees is as well known for its beautiful scenery and cultural events as it is for its good food and wine. There are some lovely places to visit on day excursions and you could take a picnic to enjoy on the banks of the river Lot or one of the other scenic or dramatic locations, like Rocamadour, St Cirq Lapopie or Belaye.

Throughout the summer months there are lots of special events, feasts, fetes and exhibitions, concerts, performances and activities to participate in and all the places of interest are open.

The climate is warmer and drier than the UK so that you can make the most of the long, hot summer evenings and enjoy spending plenty of time out of doors and in the pool.

The pace of life here is leisurely, there is always time to stop for a chat or enjoy a drink at the cafe and watch the world go by. The roads are quiet, making day trips and outings a pleasure.

Montcuq

Berty is in the midst of farmland, surrounded by a rolling landscape of sunflowers, wheat and melons in the delightful valley of the Tartuguie.

The nearby hamlet of Rouillac is known for its medieval chapel with 12th century fresco paintings and is often visited by pilgrims and hikers on the route of St Jacques, one of the great walking routes across France which goes all the way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

We are only 5 kms from the medieval market town of MONTCUQ with all shops and services, just 8 kms from LAUZERTE and 20 minutes from CAHORS, the departmental capital of the Lot.

If you are feeling energetic, there are tennis courts, canoeing, horse riding and golf nearby; or perhaps you prefer the more leisurely pursuits of fishing or birdwatching, or reading a good book. For family fun there is table tennis, badminton and boules in the garden. Whatever your age or level of fitness, there is bound to be something that suits.
