In 3 ha5 of nature, our house, with its guest rooms, its lodgings and its swimming pool, is located at Montcony (71500), small village of Saone-et-Loire in South Burgundy ; it is an ideal place for your holidays. "Au Bois de Montcony" is a Bed and Breakfast Inn. The guest rooms are located in a property which is a perfect retreat in a delightful area and an enchanting environment which provides many various cultural or sporty activities.
The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, tastefully decorated and furnished with a private bathroom each.
A scrumptious breakfast is included in the price and in summer, our guests can enjoy it either on the terrace or in the park.. While tasting our home-made ham, the village honey or the Comté cheese, you will be able to quietly plan your day.

Louhans is at 11 kilometers from Montcony. The high street featuring a total of 157 arcades from the 15th and 16th centuries. The Saint-Pierre church with its polychrome-tiled roof. L’Hôtel Dieu et l’apothicairerie. The end of 17th-century Hôtel-Dieu hospital and apothecary. The apothecary constitutes the architectural marvel of the “Hôtel-Dieu”. The fine collection of earthenware demonstrates the history of the pharmacy jar, from the Hispano-Moorish model of the late 15th century (browns and blue) to the Nevers style (bright blue). The hospital’s ceramics and blown glass still contain products of animal, vegetable and mineral composition. A collection unique in all of Europe. L’atelier d’un journal : l’indépendant A branch exhibit of the Bresse Eco-museum. The first French museum of newspaper printing. Various machines are on display (rotating presses, among others) with accompanying demonstrations. Musée du Rail Bressan – Bress’Pulmann Nostalgie Located at the SNCF train station : an exhibit of historic train cars, including a 1st-class Pullman “Orient Express” model featuring a 1:43-scale representation (measuring 20 meters in length) of the Louhans station as it existed in 1929. The exhibit includes a gallery of rail-related photography and a model of the current station in Saint-amour (in the neighbouring Jura department). A library, with some 1500 books on railroads along with a video presentation, a number of display cases and a collection of old toys ; the bisit then continues outside along the Garden Railroad Line, representing the “Chapelle-Naude du Tacot” train station at a 1:22 scale. The municipal museum : Sculptures, paintings and engravings from State collections or local donations. Re-creation of the town museum as it was in the late 19th century, featuring the Guillemin Room, the Loisy Room and another room housing the Louis James donation.
The colourful Bresse poultry market held every Monday morning.
Boats launched from bases in Louhans and the Savoyeux Harbour (Haute-Saône department). Rental period : April 1 through October 31. Possibility of drop-off at another marina. 21 boats available
In Pierre de Bresse (26 kilometers from Montcony), the Bresse Régional Museum of Local Heritage (eco-museum) is also housed within the castle. Presentation of the history of local crafts within the natural and archaeological context of the Bresse region and the Château of Pierre-de-Bresse itself. Permanent exhibition of crafts activities from yesteryear, the local economy and means of production nowadays. Collection of traditional Bresse country furniture, and an audiovisual presentation room. The museum also contains a tearoom and a conference room/concert hall. Musical entertainment is held every Sunday from June to September and during the concert season. The chateau grounds are also open to visit.
Rancy, at 21 kilometers from Montcony. This exhibit is part of the Bresse Eco-museum overall display of local crafts and traditions. An audiovisual presentation is provided, along with demonstrations of working with straw in the manufacturing of chairs. Re-creation of an old workshop.
Sagy, at 16 kilometers from Montcony. One of the Bresse Région’s Ecomuseums. The village’s communal house is the stage for a giant display, complete with sound and lighting effects, on the technical evolution of hydraulic mills. Permanent exhibition spread out aver 15 hectares of more than 150 varieties of animals, featuring : poultry, goats, sheep, pigs and cows of old and sometimes rare breeds. Also available on site : café, children’s playground, sale of local specialty products, sale of animals.
Saint-Germain du Bois, at 11 kilometers from Montcony. This branch exhibit of the Bresse Eco-museum provides a focus on agricultural machinery. The main exhibits are entitled : “The ox, the horse and the tractor” and ‘Growing wheat and corn in the Bresse country”. Reconstruction of a forge, live Bresse poultry and threshing equipment are also on display.
