This area of the charente, reknown for it's culture, scenery and cuisine, will attract those wishing to relax but for those seeking a more energetic holiday, the area has plenty of activities to enjoy. The cottage is located in a peacful hamlet just minutes from the village of Montbron which has several good restaurants and bars, together with boulangerie, patisseries and local shops. It is ideal for discovering and exploring the region being on the boarders of the Dordogne and Limousin just minute from the Perigueux-Limousin National Park.
The cottage is comfortably furnished having been fully modernised and has a double and twin bedroom which adequately accommodates 4 people. The garden is furnished with table and chairs, sunloungers and together with a BBQ for that al fresco dining experience.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
The Charente region is steeped in historical buildings, interesting places, breathtaking landscapes and National parks. It boasts the second highest sunshine record for France and is of course home to many of the fine wines and brandy's produced in France.
Montbron / Chatain Besson area
Many of the villages and towns in the area hold fetes and activities right throughtout the season including the internationally famous, music and dance celebration at Confolens. There are also many fine Chateaux to visit, close by, including the one at La Rochefoucauld and Rochechouart. During the summer many of the surrounding cheateaux hold festivals which include music, art and medieval re-enactments.
The villages of Brantrome and Auberterre are not to be missed. Brantrome is set on an Island where three rivers converge. There are fine restaurants and shops set amongst it narrow streets which will provide many memories. Auberterre which is set high up overlookig the Dronne, bustles during the season, with its cafe, bars and restaurants lining the square. The monolithique Church and grave yard, carved out of rock is a must see sight.
For those holiday guests seeking a more active vacation there is go-karting, horse riding, golf, fishing, sailing canoeing and the adventure park all within very easy reach. As well as the beaches on the lakes, if you would just prefer to relax.
If you want to sample the local delights then the market on Wednesday at Piguet is well worth a visit. The local area has many excellent restaurants which will suit all tastes, from traditional french cuisine to Italian. More information on attractions can be obtained from the tourism office in Montbron.
How to get there
Getting to the cottage is very easy whether you want to fly or drive. We are just over an hour away from Limoges International Airport, which is served by a number of the low cost airlines from various loctions in the UK. Also, we will be about 30 minutes from the new Airport of Anguoleme (opening 2008). Coming by car takes about seven hours from the channel ports. Both Speedferries and Sea France offer good rates.

Further details indoors: The cottage, although having been completely modernised, still retains some of it's original features, such as the stone sink, beams and fire place. It provides all the necessary facilities, to feel like you are at home. There are two good sized bedrooms, each with heating. A very well equipped kitchen and lounge area with enternainment.
