Decorated and furnished to a very high standard to ensure your stay in France goes perfectly. With a generously packed Welcome Box your holiday is guaranteed to get off to a great start.

Montbron is a short distance away with its supermarkets, restaurants, French and Irish Bars.

When we ask our friends where they think The Charente actually is on the map, they often have trouble describing it exactly. You usually have to go through The Charente, rather than stopping there. You tend to be passing it on your way to the major beaches of the South-West, or to the Pyrenees, or even on to Spain. And yet there are many such beautiful landscapes to see right here. Hidden treasures, waiting to be found and enjoyed.

This is the Department with the most old Roman constructions in all of France. We have an amazing variety of landscapes: the valleys of the River Charente and all its tributaries, the wonderful vineyards around Cognac, the big hills and valleys of our Swiss Charente around Montbron, the plains and farmlands in the North Charente, the scenic lakes of the East and the forests of the Horte-Tardoire area. History is ever-present here, with many prehistoric caves, chateau, castles and roman baths. All those long walks and visits are a wonderful prospect!

The Poitou-Charentes region

Nearby, for your leisure, there is a swimming-pool and tennis court, country paths for walking, biking or horse-riding. In Montbron, there is the small Sabot Museum and the Castle. If you are fond of fishing, you can practise your hobby on the river Tardoire at the foot of the village.

If you like water-mills, you can visit the Moulin de Trotte Renard in Bunzac on the Bandiat river, the mills of Menat and Chabrot on the Tardoire, the Moulin de la Forge in Rancogne or the Moulin de la Chaume in Saint Germain de Montbron. Also the Moulin de la Pierre in Vilhonneur which it is unique in France: the water power enables it to saw a limestone block that weighs several tons.

Montbron has several bars, restaurants and supermarkets together with river canoeing and other sporting facilities and a museum.

Environmentalist and bio lovers must go to Souffrignac to visit the Bandiat Gardens, on the Périgord border: a museum garden with European vegetable gardens, a rural museum, events and bio products for sale, everything is organized for your pleasure.

"Fantastic, tranquil getaway!"

Stayed at Elsa of Kora for a week with friends, the house to start with is incredible, very high standard of finish complete with idyllic views over the French countryside. Nearby shops, bars and restaurants made it great for us all to socialise and stock up on supplies. Also great nearby activity venues such as lakes, parks, pools and general natural beauty. Great house, great surroundings and a perfect, peaceful place to relax and enjoy loved ones company! Thank you to the owners for a wonderful stay!
