About the home

This is a well-equipped, comfortable home-from-home, ideal for families and children. The gite is in an ideal location on the Normandy/Brittany border, in a quiet cul-de-sac between two villages. The garden is south-facing and there are lovely views over open countryside.

The garden has a patio area with patio furniture, a built-in BBQ, swings, slide, trampoline and a sandpit. There is a large area of grass for games and fun. Plenty of parking.

The gite is especially well equipped for familes with young children, with a whole range of equipment available, including high chairs, baby intercom, stair gates, child locks on kitchen cupboards, toys, cots, bed guards, bay bath, Bumbo, Babydan playpen, toddler trike, potties, step stool, toilet seats, steriliser, emergency baby supplies, baby cutlery, stroller and pushchair, toddler area in the games room, child seats for adult bikes, and more.

There is a large range of well-maintained bikes for adults and children of all ages.

The Normandy / Manche region

This is a rural area, on the border of Brittany and Normandy. Rolling, unspoilt countryside. Landing beaches and the famous Mont St Michel are close by.

The Montanel area

Places of interest to visit: Combourg, Villedieu les Poeles, Dinan, Dinard, St Malo, Champrepus zoo, Foret de Villecartier ... There are so many places of interest, and lots of sporting activities too.

Ferries

The nearest port to La Pruneraie is St Malo, which is just 45 minutes away. It is served by Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries. Brittany Ferries also serve Caen (1½ hours' drive) and Cherbourg (2 hours' drive).

Please note that we can offer you a 10% discount when you travel with Brittany Ferries, once we have received your booking and deposit.

LD Lines run ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre (2½ hours) or Portsmouth to Dieppe (3½ hours).

If you are travelling on a budget, there are cheaper ferry services from Dover to Calais (5½ hours away). See www.poferries.com or www.seafrance.com. See also www.ldlines.com for ferries from Dover to Boulogne, and www.norfolkline.com for ferries from Dover to Dunkirk (about 5 hours away).

Eurotunnel

For those that don't like sea travel, Eurotunnel is an option. The drive from Calais will take you 5-5½ hours.

Air

The nearest airport is Dinard (45 minutes away). Ryanair operate flights to Dinard from Stanstead and East Midlands. Flybe operate flights from Southampton to Rennes (1 hour away), and Air France operate flights from Heathrow to Caen and Rennes. Additionally, Aurigny Air operate flights to Dinard from Manchester, Stanstead and Gatwick via Guernsey.

Road

Leave the A84 at Junction 31 in the direction of Coglès and Antrain. Go through Coglès village until you come into the village of St Ouen la Rouërie. Slow down – you will turn right here (if you come to the church, you’ve gone too far). Follow the road down a hill, past a pond on the right-hand side at the bottom, then up a hill. Continue straight on past La Guerhandais on your left and road going uphill to your right, and on for another few hundred yards, until you see a house on your left abutting the road. Turn left immediately after this house. You are now at ‘La Pruneraie’. Follow the road round to the end, and you will see a house with a conservatory on your left. Turn left into the driveway after this house – you have arrived.
