Our house is in the village of Montedinove in the lovely region of Le Marche on the Adriatic coast. We are twenty minutes from the coast and thirty minutes from the SibiliniMountains. The nearest coastal towns to our house are Cupra Maritima, Pedaso and Grottmare. On the map these are shown half way between Ancona and Pescara.

Our house is in the medieval village of Montedinove. This is a beautiful village with all the properties hundreds of years old. There are three churches, a bar, hotel a shop, garage , cash machine and chemist. The house is in a lovely street near to the main square where the local bar is.

The village is very quiet but there is a great sense of community spirit. During the Summer the village has a week long festival with dancing and a vast range of food on offer. You can park your car in the village square and spend time on the terrace and walking around the village. At night their is a great restaurant in the local hotel which serves pizza and many Le Marche regional dishes.

Montedinove is five minutes from the historic village of Montalto which has bars, restaurants and shops

The Marche/Abruzzo region

Le Marche is a very undiscovered region of Italy and one full of breath-taking scenery and beautiful hilltop towns and villages. There are very few foreign people in this area and one very much undiscovered by the Italians. During the summer the coast is busy but never over crowded. During the winter all the towns and villages in the mountains and by the coast are very quiet. This is a perfect place for those people who want to unwind and immerse them selves in Italy and all that Italy and Le Marche have to offer. The people in Le Marche are very kind and gentle people. Many still rely on the land for their living. You will find the tractors working from early morning until late at night. In Le Marche the main crops are olives, fruit and grapes which are made into wine.

As well as the small hill tops and lovely coastal towns there are a number of other tourist attractions. About an hour and a half from our house are the caves of Frassai. These were discovered in 1971 and are very much worth a visit. The formations of stalactites and stalagmites are fabulous. About two hours from the house is the principality of San Marino. This is a hilltop town just past Ancona which is well worth a visit. Other towns worth visiting are Fermo, Ascoli Piceno and Jesi. These are larger towns where there are more shops and some stunning buildings. The mountains near to the house are the Sibilini and are about forty minutes from us. Head towards Communaza and Amandola and then to Sarnarno.

Montalto delle Marche

This is a great area to come and relax and unwind. There are many beautiful medieval towns and villages to see and lovely clean and relatively quiet beaches. There are some great local vineyards near the house and their wine is fresh and beautiful. The people in Le Marche will go out of their way to say ciao and help you out if they can.
