About the home

Located in the Val d'Orcia region south of Siena. This area has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. The house is located on a hill with panoramic views over the countryside and only 2 mins from the village of Montisi. Sitting out on your terrazza overlooking your swimming pool soaking up the radiant glow of the golden sun setting over the tranquil Val d'Orcia Valley.

All the modern facilities in a traditional styled home. Two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, sofa bed in living room, fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, gas cooker and all the appliances to make your holiday an enjoyable one.

Podere Ampella gives you the chance to live the relaxed Tuscan lifestyle in the idyllic setting of this exceptional hilltop hamlet overlooking the wonderful Val d’Orcia landscape, a landscape so unique that UNESCO has listed it as a world heritage site. This is the perfect location to relax and unwind, where you can choose to do as much or as little as you wish.
This newly built hamlet has a collection of eleven privately owned villas and apartments finished to a very high standard. The hamlet has been designed in the traditional Tuscan style using local materials and the typical architectural style.
All the properties are fully furnished and well equipped; each has its own private terrace or garden and two of the villas have their own private pool. The shared pool has a paved surround furnished with loungers and parasols and is set in a stunning position overlooking the surrounding countryside.
Podere Ampella hamlet is positioned between the historic towns of San Giovanni d’Asso and Montisi where there are plenty of restaurants, shops and banks. The hamlet is ideally situated for exploring Tuscany with the cities of Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Pisa and Lucca within easy reach, or venture over the border into Umbria to visit the historic cities of Assisi, Orvieto and Perugia.

San Giovanni D’Asso is a delightful hilltop town only 3kms from Ampella Hamlet. Dating back to medieval times the village surrounds the walls of a twelfth century castle. Here you will find traditional Tuscan restaurants and shops selling the local produce. The town boasts the only truffle museum in Italy, as well as hosting an annual truffle festival in November each year. There are also two important churches; the Romanesque church, San Giovanni Battista, and San Pietro in Villare. The picturesque Tuscan town of Montisi is 4kms from Ampella Hamlet. In August each year there is the annual jousting competition “Giostra di Simone” which sees many of the townsfolk dress up in medieval costume.

Booking in the summer season is from Saturday to Saturday.
October to April we cater for weekend breaks and can cater for nightly rates per person sharing.

The Tuscany / Siena Province region

Full of vineyards and olive groves with fields of sunflowers, this area is truly the heart of Tuscany. The landscapes and the artistic legacy have made Tuscany world famous.

The summers in Tuscany are very hot and sunny, however the temperature starts to decrease from mid August until October, which is a really nice month to visit Tuscany as the cities are not as packed with tourists and the heat is not as intense. Winters can be cold and wet but the spring always seems to come quickly!

The Montalcino / Val d'Orcia area

Siena is one of the most fascinating town of Tuscany and is in a beautiful position with a lovely environment. Siena has a medieval character and has kept its design without being spoiled by new buildings. There are numerous churches to visit, including the Cathedral and Palazzo Pubblico.

The compelling landscapes of the Val d'Orcia make it a great destination. Walkers and cyclists will be in heaven as the area is ideal for long promenades in its rolling green hills.

Montisi has a festival in august only 3 km away.
